Things you DONT like about the HTC One?

Location of the power button...

Lack of a hardware camera button to take pictures.

The first One I had, had this issue and I was using a screen protector. The second One I have has no issue and does not have screen protector. So may be the protector.

I think it might just be me or possibly the screen protector or the way my fingers are touching them. Still love the phone overall.

Its a known issue discussed in several threads across multiple sites that screen protectors negatively impact the One's capacitive buttons.

Yep best buy put a screen protector on mine as soon as I bought it and it was near impossible to use the back button so I took it off after about 2hrs

I absolutely hate how the capacitive buttons function. I would say that they work about 70% of the time. Trying to bring up multitasking or pressing the home button to exit the camera app has become a pain

There was a good picture that demonstrated this problem in another thread... You basically have to push the exact bit of the buttons for them to work

Not fond of the slow charge time. If the battery us going to be sealed then at least have it charge up relatively quickly.

My phone does get very warm, but I'm thinking it's just from the body being metal.

Screen on time for me is not great at 3-4 hours with power save function on and almost everything turned off or turned down.

Other than that, this phone is a huge step up from my iPhone 4.

The dock on the home screen, I wouldnt mind if i could change the color but rather it be transparent instead of this horrible black bar taking up a good portion of the wallpaper!! Other then that, very little, maybe remove blinkfeed and facebook from the gallery, some more themes for the messaging app would be nice to :)

Nova launcher allows for transparent dock, no blink feed, among many other customizations....

What I don't like about the phone? The battery is the only important feature that I don't like, not only does it die rather quickly but it also takes forever to recharge.

Minor things I don't like would be the button placement on the bottom, would have preferred the button layout from the One X. Wish the camera was 8 ultra pixel instead of 4. I wish there was less bezel. I wish the notification light had more than 2 colors.

I think that's it, other wise this is a fantastic phone, best android phone I have ever used.

Found one more annouyance, but this one is rather major for me.

I cannot get voice commands to work with my car.

My only gripe so far is when it is on charge the screen does not stay on. I use mine as an alarm clock at nite so seeing the screen is nice!

Lack of quick toggles or easy transition between vibrate and silent.

I know there's an app for the toggles but it's not like htc couldn't add that.

In my limited time with the one it was the app drawer that I didn't like. Don't get the redesign at all and I'm surprised it's not a more talked about issue.

There is a stay awake option in the developer options in settings :)

I also have this same problem. It's much worse when using a screen protector. There's a update coming that is supposed to fix this.

I know I'm probably in the minority with this... But, I'm not too crazy about the aluminum body. I don't like to use a case on my phones. I think the aluminum back on the One will scuff easily and show signs of wear if you don't use a case. I also believe that if I were to drop it on a hard surface, that the aluminum edge would get dented and chipped and look and feel terrible.

I comparison, I don't use a case on my One X and there are no scratches on the back of it at all. It has been dropped a couple of times on our ceramic floor and only suffered a couple of subtle (barely noticeable) marks on two of the corners. Granted, I'm sure that the charcoal grey color helps hide any subtle imperfections. But also, this polycarbonate body on the One X seems to be very tough and durable and I think more durable than the aluminum will be on the One over time.

Another thing that really bothers me about the One are the buttons... I share the same complaints as others in that the power button should be on the side on a phone this tall. Also, the button layout on the bottom of the One doesn't make sense. The Home button should be in the middle. And ehy take away the multitask button and put a logo on the bottom that doesn't do anything?

I prefer the button layout on the One X and having the ability to configure the multitask button to be the menu button with a long press. Personally, I like the on screen buttons on the Nexus 7 even better!

Lastly, I don't like the camera on the One having only a 4 MP sensor. I think the sweat spot for any digital camera is 8 MP. However I do appreciate how well it performs in low light. Now if they could just make an 8 Ultrapixel sensor...

After owning the phone for a week, there's not much I don't like about it, but I guess I have some minor gripes.

Blinkfeed. Not a huge fan. Wish we could add our own sources or at least have a better selection. I much prefer using Appy Geek for my news.

The location of the power button bothered me at first, but I quickly got used to it and it's no longer an issue.

The capacitive buttons can be annoying sometimes. When I hit back, I sometimes end up pressing on an ad located at the bottom of whatever app I'm in using.

I also wish we can add more panels. 4 seems limited considering the amount of widgets and apps I use.

Another thing that concerns me is HTC's track record for keeping their devices updated. I hope they do a better job with the One.

Despite these minor issues, I'm very satisfied with the device. The camera is amazing in low light and the speakers are phenomenal. I can use the speakerphone while driving with the phone sitting in the passenger seat rather than having to hold it up to my face like previous devices.. The call quality is also fantastic, on par with my girlfriend's Blackberry Z10.

I don't like the name because when I try to Google for information about it I constantly get results for the One X or One X+.

Unfortunately, this is something the carriers control more than HTC. For example, they submitted their Jelly Bean update to Verizon for the Rezound last November. Verizon just updated the phone this week...without Jelly Bean. Unfortunately, HTC doesn't have the clout anymore like Samsung does with carriers when it comes to delivering OS updates. Hopefully the One changes things, but just in case I'm glad I bought mine directly from HTC.
