Things you've discovered on Note 8?

That's pretty strange... I'm with AT&T and I enabled Developer Mode and didn't lose that function. I read what you said was switched on so I checked "Developer Mode" and there is no such line in mine???
Same here with Verizon.

Here's a caveat about enabling developer options (by clicking your build number a million times). It has a strange effect on the apps screen. It no longer shows the options balloon when you press on an app which allows you to do things like remove the app, remove a group, move to home screen and other things. I was scratching my head trying to figure out what had happened. I thought it was the new theme that I applied that might have caused it .... nope. I thought it was some things that I had disabled on the BK 2 Disabler that may have caused it .... nope. By shear luck I clicked on my Developer Options in settings and noticed a toggle switch on the top right. It was turned on. I then switched it OFF. Lo and behold I got those app bubble options back by doing that. Just an FYI.

it's the animation scaling. you have it too low. others have mentioned this issue.

settings>developer options>animation scale... set it higher than you have it. mine is at 1x. off prevents moving deleting so try .5x or 1x

Yes, I have Verizon and on mine there is a toggle switch at the top right to turn on and off.

I tested this and you are right. I had the animations turned off. I tried 0.5 and left the Developer Options turned on and my apps are working like they should.

while I was reviewing the developer options setting for the location of the animation part you needed, something changed my whole setup from everything left-sided to everything right-sided, i.e. my settings icons were all on the right side, my notifications were on the right, as well, my battery, time, etc. all moved to the left, etc. and I kind of liked it. a reboot didn't remove it, but when I turned off dev opts it reverted, as did my other settings there. cannot replicate the situation. any ideas on what happened anyone?

Watching "The Daily Note", a YouTube video, Michael, the host, spoke about the 2 different nibs on the SPen. He pointed out that the tip installed on the SPen has a bit of a drag while the white one glides across the screen much more smoothly. So after watching the very short video, I decided to change the tip of the pen to the white one. There is a very noticeable difference in the glide. I've been using Notes since Note 2 and never changed the tip. Maybe I should have. Someone else might be able to clarify which tip is best used for different purposes. Honestly, I don't know. I'll continue to use the white tip for a while and see if I like it better than the black one.

For those interested, here's the link to the video I mentioned,

I always swap my tip for the white one. I prefer it. thanks for reminding me I haven't done it yet on my N8.

In this video he shows holding down home button on the locked screen to open phone. How the heck he do that?

Sorry, i tried to post the video that Katrina white 1 posted (319), don't know how you guys and gals post other peoples post. My previous post question was from that video.

Here's a nice feature/function built into the gallery app. Go into one of your albums and slide a finger from the left edge of the screen inward. This will bring up side bar with all your albums. If you want to easily move a picture, you can press on the picture and then drag and drop it into any of the albums on that side bar. It will take a few tries to get it right.

It's been posted a few times in other sections of this site but it should be brought up again here if it hasn't already.

I prefer the black rubber tip as it gives me better tactile feedback like pen on paper.

I remember reading years ago when I got my first Note, two different poem tips were included, one intended to be used on screens with protectors installed and the other to be used on just the bare screen itself.

Jacker, thanks for the help, only thing is when I hard press home button on the locked screen, it opens the screen to enter my pin, not home screen.

Yeah, security before home screen. No way around that unless you disable it or use smart Lock.

Sorry....

Also how did you get the screen shot in your post? I'm not real smart at this stuff, but want to learn.
It's really easy.
