Things you've discovered

So you have both fingerprint and pin code setup for protection but anyone can pick up your phone, pop out the pen and have access, doesn't make sense that the pen should be a trusted device unless tha *trust* expires when the pen run out of power at least

It’s an Spen setting that allows this action. Only works if the Spen is out of the device while unlocked, device locks and then you can unlock with a press of the Spen button.

So I just discovered a "media" alarm on the phone. If I need to set an alarm it's always been on one of my Google Homes. In fact when I set an alarm a few minutes ago it was on my Google Home but my Note 9 took the command too, without me realizing it. I don't know if this is new or not, but, I got some non-descript little jingle that went down in volume once the pleasant lady started telling me the time, forecast, and that it was going to be a nice sunny day (complete with birds chirping). Then she went into a news spiel. That wasn't as smooth and seamless as the first part tho. Then more bouncy light music with birds. I liked it! :) Is this a Note 9 thing? Galaxy thing? Google?

Sounds like the Bixby briefing setting in the Note 9 alarm settings. You can toggle that on or off for any alarm you set.

Lol the pleasant lady.

When I remove the S Pen, I can use the larger S Pen that came with my Tab S4, and it has all the same full capabilities.

You don't need to remove the S Pen if you turn off "Power saver" in the S Pen settings.

So on my note 8, I had a small temperature icon in the top left that I liked for getting ready in the morning. It would also show on my lock screen. Now I can't for the life of me remember how I got that. The only weather apps I've had are stock and the weather channel. Anyone know? Thanks! Love this phone!

Edit: found it!

The Weather Channel App "NOT for Samsung" gives you the Temp but "FOR Samsung" doesn't! Why? Don't ask me that one - I just saw your question and noticed mine had disappeared and I had just switched to "For Samsung", so I re-installed the regular version and as soon as I clicked "Open", the Temp was back! Goodbye "For Samsung"!

This is Weatherbug. Love it.

Today I discovered that by holding my phone while sitting in the drivers seat (parked), I can reach the right passenger rear door light - and push it to shut it off when one of the kids accidentally leaves it on.

I have a '17 Dodge Charger, meant to add - it's a pretty big 4-door car so this is a good reach .

The "Swiss Army Knife" of Smart Phones... virtually and physically!!! You could probably use it for self defense and knock somebody out if you had too, also! (with my UB Pro Case, it's damned near indestructible)

I've discovered that after looking at this screen since 11/28, I no longer have any use for my pixel 2 xl.

I had a P2XL prior to the Note 9.
I thought it was the phone I really wanted. I waited until the used came down to what I thought was a reasonable price. I was not impressed by it.
I've been nothing but impressed with this Note 9.
I was researching the wife's next phone. I'm her "tech support" as she says and a phone junkie. My coworker tells others, "he is like a computer geek, but with phones".
I decided on the Note 9 for her. I got a barely mint 128 on Swappa. We just can't justify paying $1000 for a phone.
Through all of the research for choosing and setting up, I started to get enamored by it. It's a really great phone.
So, I was really digging the wife's Note 9 and all it could do and theming options and thinking that I would like one, if it could be rooted, but it can't, at least not in the US, AFAIK. I have had a rootable phone, since 2012.
Then I found out about the 512 GB version, WITH EIGHT GIGS OF RAM! It was game over. So I found a mint 8/512 on Swappa with a Whitestone protector and a bunch of cases (I'm also a huge case junkie), for only $150 more than the wife's 6/128.
I have been thoroughly impressed and have no regrets. Now I'm researching what all the S Pen can do.
Colour me happy!

The 2 XL was the phone I really wanted and I was very impressed by it despite what the tech community had to say... until I started using the note 9 with all the additional features that it brings to the table.

With the toned down Samsung experience, this is a major win in my book now and I love it.
