Thinking about a 6P - How is the display color temperature?

Long story short... Had a Moto X 2014 for the last year, bought a Note 5 in August. The note 5 is driving me crazy lately with these tiny audio glitches, and a bluetooth issue that there seems to be no fix for. Terrible range and won't stay connected to smartwatches or speakers. That led me to trying out my Moto X 2014 for a while and it's reminded me how much I love Stock Android.

Touchwiz is better. Absolutely. Touchwiz is usable and fine. But on an everyday basis, there are still a lot of things I don't like and would much rather have a Nexus. I would have bought a Nexus from the beginning if I had any faith in August that they would do the camera right. I didn't think they would so I bought the Note.

My problem with just going back to the Moto X is the color temperature of the screen drives me crazy. Has a yellowish tint when compared to my laptop, ipad and Note. It doesn't get very bright. And the camera is a joke compared to newer cameras.

How is the color temperature and screen of the 6P? I realize it's a similar panel (or even the same, calibrated differently) to the Note 5. So I'd hope it's similar. Are there any other weird nagging bugs with the 6P that seem to have no fix in sight? I know about the bending and the glass cracking issue. But wondering about anything else that may make me regret the decision.

Or am I stupid for even considering doing this, and taking a loss on selling the Note to buy a similar phone?

According to the tests in the Internet, the brightness of the display could be better. I have my 6P since last week, and coming from an iPhone 6S I can say that this is the best display I ever had.
Reviewers are saying that the S6 and Note 5 have better displays, but the difference shouldn't be big. I love mine! Even in clear sunlight I can see the display with no issues.
By default the 6P comes with over saturated colors. If you like that then fine, but if you want more realistic colors, then you have to enable developer mode and then enable sRGB. This improves things a lot. Overall, this is the best phone I ever had.

I'm not TOO worried about brightness. From what I've read, it seems like it's certainly bright enough, even if it's not quite Note 5 brightness. (Which is nothing short of amazing how well I can read the Note 5 in direct sunlight).

Oversaturation is fine as Note 5 is the same. I'm more worried about any kind of unsightly tint that some lesser quality AMOLEDs have. I saw a couple people complain about a pink tint, but seems like that's an exception and something you can submit an RMA for, whereas the Moto X 2014 is just poorly calibrated.

But sounds like it should be fine from what you're saying - and from the bits and pieces I've read. Thanks.

I tried a moto x 2014 briefly before I got my Nexus 6p. The Nexus 6p screen isn't perfect but it was definitely better than the moto x 2014.

The Nexus 6p is less yellow and of course the display is noticeably sharper. It does have a bit of a pinkish tint especially at lower brightness. And I feel like the tint isn't completely uniform (but this is only noticeable at very low brightness on white backgrounds). It also probably varies by unit.

I'm happy with my display after using it for a month but I was a little unsure when I first got it (I hadn't used an amoled screen in a while)

At least you can always return if you don't like it.

Well yeah, I can do the same on an old Moto X, but that doesn't mean it's pleasing to do so. Display calibration is important to some people, maybe just not you.

Thanks guys. So, it won't quite live up to the Note 5, but it wont' bother me either it sounds like. I'm not super picky, but using the Moto X and then going to my iPad or Laptop or Note 5 really shows how poorly calibrated the X screen is. It's fine if that's all your using and you don't notice it as much. But in comparison, eek.

Anyway, bought a 6P today. I've learned that I just can't be happy unless I'm on stock Android it seems. I'll miss the S-Pen and the Camera, but the 6P Camera will be more than satisfactory. But it'll still be tough to replace the one on the Note 5.

I really like the app on the Note 5 and it launches faster (there isnt a single camera that is faster than Samsung this year) but I am incredibly happy with the 6p. It's almost identical to the iPhone 6s with launching and focusing which is another great camera.

I used my Mom's Note 5 (still surprised she got it, I must be a good influence) for 10 days hen she was away on vacation a couple months ago.

Is it noticeably better? Yeah

THAT much better? Nope ... The 6p honestly has a wonderful camera. And that's not just for a Nexus. If I had to compare it, I'd say it's similar to the iPhone 6s, maybe slightly better. Head over to the sticky thread and check out the picks yourself, they're great.
