Thinking about bionic on 1 year contract ... think again

I believe anyone who was planning on getting a 1 year plan for Bionic to just get the thunderbolt now for 1 year before this goes into effect, and skip the Bionic. After the 1 year youll get something better.

Yea 1 year TB, then get the Droid 3.

Sounds like a good plan, i think im going to give that a real thinker tommroorow.

Sounds like the perfect plan if you ask me...

or Targa. Dammm since this is likely to go in effect the 17th, i got till the 16th to make a big decision.

Take my Verizon # and maybe go to sprint or T Mobile, or get TB for 1 year then upgrade to Targa or D3 or something better.

Tommrorow, will be an interesting day. Too tired to give it real thoughts right now.

I'll have to check my plan. I have a corporate discount on my plan, but don't know if that's the same as what they're calling a "business customer". But, I don't mind so much doing a 2-yr on the Bionic.

I too have a corporate discount (20%) for my plan, but where do you go on your Verizon profile page to find what type of account you have?

I was all set to wait for the Bionic and see it before deciding, but getting a 1 year Tbolt would have a number of advantages for me to a 2 year Bionic?

I don't know. I was hoping that it would state it somewhere, or at least have similar words to that listed on the Verizon document.

I was set too, but really wanted to compare both firsthand before making the final decision. May still do that, although I'd have to consider that whichever device I choose, I'll have to keep it for 2-years.

I doubt that "corporate account" and "account with corporate discount" is one in the same...

I would agree. But, when I pull up my account, it has the company name under my user name (in the upper right-hand corner of the webpage).

I have a corporate discount also and I see my company name in the upper right too. However, my account was initiated as a personal account and not a business account. On the login screen you have two options...personal and business.

Yep, I just noticed that. With that, I'd say we're in the same boat as most everyone else -- no more 1-yr contracts. :'(

Get used to it. Now that big red has the iphone they think they are big stuff. So many anti-consumer policies lately it makes me sick.

I am 10 months into my 2 yr contract with Verizon. Does this policy change count as a "breach of contract" which would nullify my current contract?

Can't see how it would. There has been no breach of contract on either side. They haven't changed your contract at all. It's just that those getting new contracts would only be allowed to get 2-yr contracts (unless they fall under the exceptions listed by Verizon).

Yeah, they aren’t doing anything to your *existing* contract. They just aren’t giving you the option of a 1 yr contract the next time you go to sign a new one.

I have to say, I went back to the Verizon store over lunch to play with a Tbolt a bit more. After using my Xoom for about a week, the Tbolt just felt a little sluggish (mostly in the web browser.) Assuming the differences are more due to the hardware than the rev of OS, I would think the Bionic will fly in comparision.

On top of that, getting a Tbolt on one year would cost me $230. But getting it on a 2 year would be $150 (have a $50 NE2 to use) Now add on the assumed cost of an additional phone in one year and it would cost approx $280 additional for cell phones the next two years.

That money could just as easily be spent on getting something like the galaxy tab a year from now…

Decisions, decisions.
