Thinking about getting the Note 8, advice needed please

I too just brought Note 8...was against curve screen and that finger print placement...But when I saw my friends Note 8 and played around with it for sometime really like that curve of the screen is minimal and still getting use to FP placement..thou love the note in hand feel and iris scanner is super fast...so I have FP, pin and iris as unlocking method soo all is good now..thou I am finding battery life less as I was use to honor 8 pro 4000 Mah thou it gets me thru the day with 12 to 14hrs with 4 to 4.5 hrs SOT...I have seen people putting better battery stats.
I have exynos version Indian phone...I wonder how can I make my battery life better....

I was a bit concerned to know the batter on the Note 8 was smaller than the one on the S8 plus but everyone has said the battery life is a non issue. For me it's going to come down to whether I want to use a 6.3 inch phone every day. Right now my daily driver is the Honor 8 which the 5.2 inch screen is about my sweet spot. For media and movies I prefer 5.5 and above though. I may end up keeping my honor 8 as my daily driver and just rotating the Note 8 out with my honor using it for about a week at a time then switching back over to a more practical size as my daily phone. I am curious about the S pen though. I've never owned a note phone before and I wonder if I'd use the S pen any. I know I'd at least try to. Seems like it's a very easy thing to do. I've owned both the S7s and then the regular S8. How is the software experience different on the note 8 compared to the S8? Is it smoother with less lag or faster? I've always found touchwiz to be pretty choppy and sticky. How does the note 8 handle touchwiz and is it as smooth as a pixel or a Nexus 6p is?

Before buying anything shop holiday deals. I think best buy has something like $300 or $400 off for black friday.

After 5 days of use I think battery life is improving...

Is have to get it through Xfinity mobile but they are offering a $200 gift card if you get it through them. It's only offered to customers though which is fine bc I just signed up for cable and internet. I just have to wait until my internet is installed and activated before I can place my order which should be by Tuesday or Wednesday. I think I'm going to go ahead and go with the Note 8 as I desperately need a media phone and 6.3 inch screen would be perfect for that. Something I can watch movies on and do media things on. I'll probably keep my honor 8 and rotate between the two as I love honor and EMUI.

Once you start using the note 8, you won't want to use anything else. It's the first phone I've really loved since the note 4.

dconn1975: Before you order, ask about the $500 gift card for signing up internet/TV and mobile. We’re getting the $500 as well as the $200. You might have to call retention to ask for it.

So you're going to get the Note 8? Awesome!

Well I considered the $500 gift card but what I found was that the plan they required for it was more than I needed and wanted with a more expensive price than the plan I got. I wanted the $500 gift card but that plan was like $85 of month where I'm paying $55 a month. I'm tempted to call them back though and look more into it since you brought it up bc essentially if I were to get the Samsung that's a potential $700 off with both gift cards combined.

Hey brother. Thanks for giving another heads up on this. The first time I called in to initially sign up for the services the agent gave me wrong info and told me I didn't qualify for the gift card but when I just called back in she said since I'm a new customer that I indeed do qualify for it so had you not prompted me to call back in and check back with them I would have lost my $500 gift card for never acting on it and therefore gone unnoticed. Now that I know I can be sure to definitely get it which then with the $200 gift card total of $700 dollars I can basically pay my phone off with both combined. This becomes an entire different ball game now knowing I'll have either $500 if I get the iphone 8 or $700 if I get the Note 8. Now I'm definitely going to get one or the other for sure now knowing at least I'll get $500 at minimum towards a phone. I just wish they carried tablets as I need a celluar iPad which then I'd use that gift card money when it came in towards an iPad. Too bad they don't offer tablets. The overall deal if I get the Samsung is actually a great promotion if you step back and look at it. Either $500 or potentially $700 which is huge or like a free phone for just signing up for their services which what I signed up for with taxes will run me $74 per month not including the phone or any plan which the phone will be eliminated in 90 days anyway by way of the gift cards coming. Great promotion and again thanks for prompting me to call back to get more clarification.

Note 8 can be bought off market for way less than the $200 you would be getting.
Screen is gorgeous, it is as curved as the S8 is.
It's massive, and a bit heavy. If you like smaller devices, you will not be too happy with it.

Battery life is superb. Cameras are stellar. The screen is just too damn gorgeous. The S Pen has a few neat tricks. I used a few regularly and some of them not at all. YMMV.

iPhone 8 shouldn't be on your radar. Get an iPhone 7 instead through Costco. The base version would be somewhere around $449.

Good luck.

Thank you for the heads up. If I get the iPhone 8 I get $500 off by way of a gift card. If I get the Note 8 I get an additional $200 gift card to total $700 off so I am way better off getting them through Xfinity with at least the $500 gift card. Then if I decide to go Samsung they have a $200 gift card to add to the $500 one. Potentially $700 off the Note 8 which is pretty impressive. That's the route I'd take but they offer a way less variety only offering iPhone and Samsung phones. Which is fine because those are the two im considering. I'm leaning towards the note 8 to be honest. It seems to be a stunning device and I'm quite curious if I'll use the S pen as I've owned both the S7s and the S8 but never a Note before. I almost got the Note 5 once. Oh by the way does the Note 8 have expandable storage? I forgot to ask this. I know they used to dis not. Does the Note 8 offer the needed expandable storage feature now? Thanks

Yes, US models have 64gb on board and you can expand that with an sd card.
Good deal. Thanks for letting me know. I pretty much have decided that I'm going to go ahead and get the Note 8 over the iPhone 8 now. The Note 8 just has wat too much to offer in terms of features. I'm sure I'll get used to a huge phone over time as currently I tend to use 5.2 inches as my daily driver. I'm sure within a month I'll be use to it although I still don't think it's the most practical with such a large device but I am quite curious of the S pen and if I'll use it quite often. Plus I am in need of a full blown media phone and lastly I'll get a total of $700 dollars in gift cards getting the Note 8 through Xfinity. That will just about pay my phone off right there so that's another big reason I've decided to get the Note 8 overall. I just hope it all works out once I install my service as they have stated by doing so it will create two available lines to me and all I have to do is pay the taxes on the phone on the front end. Nothing else down. I think what I'll do is take the $500 gift card pay it towards my phone and take the $200 gift card and buy a bunch of Samsung accessories for the Note 8. I'm looking quite forward to this huge change for me as you all have certainly helped me letting me know just how good of a device the note 8 is.

How many of you find yourself using the S pen often? What type of things do you use it for? I've always been curious whether I'd use it or not. I use Google keep for my notes. I suppose the S pen could take the place of Google keep. Are your notes stored forever meaning you can go back a year and locate an old password or a phone number things like Google keep does. I've got notes spanning back from two years ago that I refer to every once in a while. Does the S pen have this feature where it will store your notes forever for example every time I get a new phone my notes stay on file with Google keep. Will they do this if I were to get another Samsung or would I specifically have to get another Note phone for all my prior notes that I've taken and saved to be transferred to the new phone. Do they store on Google cloud or Samsung cloud? This would be very important to me as I would definitely want it to function as Google keep does where I have access to all my prior notes going as far back as I first started them. Do you guys mind letting me know the details of how the S pen works and how it saves and stores all your notes so that you always will have them stored should you need to refer back to an old one? Thanks a bunch. I'm very curious about if the S pen works like this just as Google keep does. I do use Google keep quite often so I'd hope I could use the S pen in a similar way. Please let me know and again thanks for the knowledge on this

I can't say enough good about the note 8. It is the best all around device I have ever owned you really can't go wrong.

You can use the s PEN with Google keep.Just add it as a Shortcut. When you eject the Pen a little dial pops up with a choice of apps, just select Keep from there. I work from home and I'm constantly taking notes.

Oh really? So you can actually use the S pen within the Google keep app and your notes stays in Google keep but just in this case you're using the S pen instead? That's awesome to know. I thought they were two totally separate apps. I definitely did not know you could combine the S pen or incorporate it into the Google keep. That's fantastic to know as I've used Google keep for a long time so now knowing I can just use the S pen for Google keep instead of typing it out is great. So any note I take will just stay in Google keep just like I normally have been using it. Thanks for letting me know on that. That is huge. I'll definitely use the S pen then. Quite often too.

Yep, you hover the pen over an open field tap the screen and the pen takes the place of the keyboard. It takes a bit of getting used to, but soon becomes second nature.
