Thinking about getting this case, will magnetic flap damage phone

Re: Thinking about getting this case, will magnetic flap damage p

I dont think it will damage it, but if the Nexus has magnets built into it to trigger things like dock modes, it will be annoying when you put it in/take it out of the case. I had that problem with my OG Droid and a magnetic holster. Everytime i took the droid out of the holster, either the car dock mode or desk dock mode would trigger because the magnets on the case set off the magnets in the phone. If the nexus doesnt use magnets to trigger dock modes, and i havent heard that it does, you'll be fine.

Re: Thinking about getting this case, will magnetic flap damage p

I am upgrading from OG Droid, and have always avoided magnetic latch holsters, which ruled out quite a few. Actually lost a phone due to worn out velcro.

Does anyone know for sure if the GNex contains the same magnetic triggers for docking modes? Or is this not a concern?

I use a pouch with a magnetic flip and notice nothing out of order. Nothing gets activated at all. All I can say about pouches though is make sure it has a little spare room. The Verizon one I had was too snug and would press on the power button turning the phone on in the pouch killing my battery in a few hours. The new one I got I have no issues cause there is a slight gap between the phone and flap.

Thinking about getting this

But one of the reviews warns of the magnetic flap screwing with the phone. Is this possible? Anyone have any insight. Probably is a dumb question, but I want to be safe

I think the NFC for Google Wallet is magnetic based technology, you might not want a magnetic pouch for it if you plan on ever using Wallet

Don't understand this. Don't you have to take the phone out of the pouch to use wallet anyway? Or to use beam with another phone? Unless the magnet would completely ruin the chip in the battery from working out of the pouch there shouldn't be a problem otherwise wouldn't they warn you not to use a pouch with magnet flaps? or to keep away from any form of magnets? Wonder if I can email Google or Samsung to find out for sure?

Re: Thinking about getting this case, will magnetic flap damage p

Well I just called Samsung and they said yes it would mess with the NFC and will also damage the motherboard in the phone!! I am shock as I have always used these kind of pouches and never had it kill the motherboard in any phone. What do they want us to put these phones in then? I really don't know what to think about this cause I was only concerned about the NFC chip and got that response. So Verizon and every provider sells these pouches knowing they would damage the phone?

Any thoughts on this?

Ive been using magnetic flap cases for various phones for the past 4 years and NONE of them got borked from using them. Even if it does, maybe after MANY years possibly it could and we all keep our phones that long. :p
