Thinking of buying a 6p? Don't read the forums!

Man oh man. If you are someone like me who is interested in this phone the worst thing you can do is read the threads on this forum. You'd swear this is the worst phone ever built. No volume in speakers. Bends when you put it in your pocket. Screen burn in, faulty noise cancelation feature, terrible bluetooth, and it will fry if you attach the wrong cable to charge. Woe is me. Mine should arrive on Friday. If I took all this seriously I'd be scared to death right now. I've seen this over and over with every phone I've bought. All have been perfectly fine and gave me great service. I'm expecting the same with this one.

Yup, as with most gadget-based forums, those with issues have far more incentive to ask for help (or just complain) than those happily using their shiny new toy without any problems.

The (not so easy) trick is to discern when there's a genuine issue rather than crowd-magnified hysteria.

So far (knock on wood) my 6P has been wonderful.

I think the point to take home is that cell phone forums are essentially tech support spaces. People only rarely come here to gush about how amazing their phone is, they want help with the odd rare defect. Since legit tech support is such a pain, forums have taken its place for many of us who'd rather trouble shoot within the community before going through the formal process.

As we always say -- You will see more people seeking help in a forum. There definitely some good discussions and things but most come to a forum for help / to discuss issues. Most people don't seek out a forum to go post about how great the phone is :).

lol, I was just gonna post that ... comparatively speaking, the 6p has had much less issues than most phones. also three of the four AC editors in their "favorite things of 2015" included the 6p.

and one thing I don't think gets enough attention is 6.0. it's as close to flawless as I've ever seen. by far the best OS on any phone to date.

I love my 6P. I had issues with my first one and did post a thread in here about it, but this is by far my favorite phone I've ever had, and one I will be glad to use for 2+ years.

The minority are always the loudest, while the majority don't post in the forums as often because we're busy actually enjoying the phone. If you want it, go for it. I couldn't be happier with mine. :)

Mine will be here Thursday and I'm more worried about adjusting to Project Fi coming from Verizon than I am about the phone itself .. I'm pretty sure the phone will be great .. That many people can't be wrong .. Can they? lol

I think you'll like Fi. Just to share my experience coming from Verizon. Most of the past 12 years I had T-mobile, but I felt I was losing service just a little too often and friends that had Verizon never seemed to have an issue. So I switched to Verizon two years ago, and other than their subpar customer service, phone service was always pretty good. So, I had the same trepidation trying out Fi. I did not start using my 6p until I got my chip, so I started with Fi. Then (without going into all the reasons why), I had to go back to Verizon. Since being back on Verizon, I feel my service is worse. Furthermore, you will surely notice a huge difference in how much less data you use. Once I get the credits that Verizon owes me, my intention is to return to Fi. It seems that most people that have Fi, enjoy it, and issues only seem to revolve around certain locations where Sprint and T-mobile had bad service to begin with.

That is true for most product reviews also, on the retailers sites

Can't wait to get mine. I've been on Windows Phone for the last 6 months or so. It's a great platform but the apps are really bad. Excited to see what marshmallow has to offer. Really glad to be back in the Google universe as well. The Lumia 1520 is a brilliant phone. If only it ran Android.... My 6p should be here Friday.

I bumped up from a Nexus 4. Is it wrong to love my new phone so much? My 6P has been amazing.

Also watch out for Reddit, while I find these forums, Reddit, and Xda helpful, they also make me very anxious about my phone.

Agreed. We should have a thread where people talk about how much they love their phone and make it a sticky.

sold my HTC One M8 for a N6P (128gb) which is now the best device i've ever owned. zero complaints.

Best phone I've ever owned. My only complaint is that now I can't ever stop playing Hearthstone, since the amazingly big screen makes it almost as good as a tablet 😂
