Generalize much? My screen is perfect and I do not have battery drain nor hot back after the Feb update. The reports of a few do not always reflect the many. No one comes to forums to post "my phone is perfect today" every day of the week. You're settling for a mediocre screen though with the Pixel. No denying that. And now the recent update has huge battery drain with a hot back. Google isn't there yet with hardware. The software is definitely on point though.

And at least Pixel owners know for a fact we will get the March update in, um March and Android P the same year it is released.
Haha...class!erasat, when clicking on your avatar, it says you're still using a Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus. You might want to change that.![]()
I actually downsized and went from the Note 8 to the non xl Pixel 2...loving the transition!

In 2019 I'll be going back to Samsung, however, probably not the Note, since I never figured out a reason to use the s-pen.
The main reason is Samsung pay. It is the killer app that only Samsung has.
I have a Gear 3 watch, mostly so I can still use Samsung pay, but phone calls can be an adventure with a Samsung Gear 3 watch and a pixel. Plus, I'd rather not wear a bulky watch and just use my phone to make payments.
As far as the look and feel, once you add Nova Launcher the all phone screens look and work basically the same. My Pixel 2 XL is set up exactly as my Note 5 was set up.
Pixels monthly updates really don't ever change much and often break something that needs to be fixed in the next month. Better to be a bit behind on the updates until the Pixel users find the bugs.
To each his own but I fail to see how a payment system is the end all to making a decision on which phone to buy.
The Pixel 3 will be out in Oct/Nov. Most likely google will improve the design and fix screen issues. So I'd hold off on the pixel 2 XL and wait. Then you'll have the Note 8, 9 to also consider.
Not that big a deal for me. I use Android Pay almost everywhere and there's no issue pulling out my credit cardThese top end android phones are pretty much all the same when you slap a case on them and add your preferred launcher.
One thing that Samsung has that no other phone has is the ability to pay with one's phone at any terminal. This is huge if you use your phone and credit cards a lot. For now I am muddling through with my gear 3 watch for Samsung pay.
I think the one feature I do like on the pixel is the squeeze to open AI. But I suppose Samsung has long press home button to do the same thing (or maybe they will allow remapping of the bixby button one day).
