Thinking of leaving Samsung S21 Ultra for iPhone 13 Pro Max...

I sold my S21U a week ago and I’m waiting for the Google 6 Pro to give a go if the cameras are as amazing as the early non-official reports suggest. But I’m also trading my iPhone 12 Pro Max for the 13 Pro Max as the deal is better than the insane amount Samsung has given in the past. The S21 Ultra is a nice phone but a bit uncertain with photos and I am a pro team member for a grill company and have to keep up on social and I take double the photos on the Samsung to get the results I want.

Just pre ordered the iPhone pro max 256gb graphite all I had to do was trade in the s21 ultra. That's it for a few years no more galaxy for me.

One of these days I might try apple again. Samsung is getting more and more like apple when it comes to features. If apple comes out with a folding screen I may look harder, of course after a couple releases to work their kinks out
Just curious what features are getting more and more like Apple? Asking because I would really like to know. Is it about the removal of the SD card?

SD card removal, 3.5 jack removal, Spen silo going away, for now anyway. Just seems Samsung is catching on remove things and people upgrade at a cost for memory, sell earbuds as most will just do that over adapters, and now the Spen is a $50 accessory. Stuff like that

Those things wouldn't be more like Apple especially the jack removal(as Motorola did it first with the Moto Z in 2016) and we all knew the SD card was inevitable. Samsung is the only phone manufacturer with a true stylus so them moving to other devices as an accessory is definitely not being more like Apple(who still doesn't have one available for any phone btw). It's funny that Samsung gets condemned for removing things that were never present on other phones like the iPhone and Pixel which were never the true reason the masses pick galaxy phones. The one thing I am bummed about though is how Samsung is basically letting Apple match them in the base storage arena. For years Samsung was the leader in providing higher base storage on all their flagships now it's that's the norm. Hoping on the S22 that changes and they get back to proving optimal storage especially with the removal of the SD slot.

The storage isn't a huge deal anymore a 256GB phone is fine. 512 GB is over doing its not like people are putting 1000 movies or 10000 songs on a phone anymore everything is digital and that means the base storage isn't the biggest deal anymore. Samsung as great as they were to let us have SD cards is cool and the tab s7plus still have one but android 12 is easily becoming simpler to compete with iPhone and the biggest thing for iPhone users is that they feel the galaxy line is too complicated. Now samsung simplifies how the phone will work. Believe me it's not a knock on samsung I've owened the galaxy s2,7 and every note till the note 9 was the last one I went with. Apple still makes phones that are super old updated with IOS and now samsung takes a while to get the system updated. Sure they have betas and all that but why put a beta on my phone running the risk of something going wrong.

That's the thing though Samsungs flagship phones come with 128gb as the base storage not 256gb. They've taken a step back especially with the note series which is a little disappointing. Could be because they intended to kill the line a while ago. Again they can still redeem themselves with the release of the S22.

My point is Samsung is turning things into accessories or add ONS. Why did the SD card have to be inevitable to leave, if I remember right Samsung didn't remove the 3.5 jack till apple did it and of course the ear buds were announced also. Motorola was never a thought to samsung, Samsung didn't care what Motorola did IMO. I give Samsung credit for following apple because they do and did. I don't use SD cards but it doesn't hurt me to be there for the ones that do. Either way, Samsung and apple have always paid attention to each other

With it being 3 years later(Apple 2016 right after Motorola and Samsung in 2019) no one can say for sure what was the reason. I knew it would come one day though but was fully prepared as I was using Bluetooth years before. I can say inevitable because just like the headphone jack that wasn't always 3.5 technology evolves and most things don't stay forever just like micro USB that evolved into type C for faster charging and data transfer. I really wish there were a new OS all together as I love technology but as a whole they're all kind of stale

Yeah that's true. Just my opinion is Samsung has been doing a lot more taking away then giving lately, but they are at least playing with new technology, that can't be said about apple

SD cards and other semi-permanent storage are incredibly problematic from a computer science/operating system perspective. And they're not really necessary anymore, which is why everyone is getting rid of them.

For the average person storing pictures and music they are just fine. They made good back up. I agree they aren't great for high demand uses. They also made taking pictures from phone to phone easy. They aren't perfect, but nothing is

I'm not talking about from the perspective of users, I mean for the people who write the operating system for the phone. Semi-permanent storage is just a massive headache.

But yeah, they're also slow and unreliable. For backups and transfers you're better off with a flash drive or external SSD.

I don't want to carry extra stuff around. Different strokes for different folks. I make it work

Even if the camera is better apps are better on ios devices and I've seen that 1st hand

I can't really argue this beyond it depends on the app, but often times developers target Apple first or provide a better experience with better optimization.

Still personally won't touch them for reliability reasons of the core OS itself, I'm not that worried about the app differences. But most people have a brand they avoid due to bad experiences in the past so I'm not gonna tell you that you shouldn't get one, just my opinion I wouldn't switch.

With android 12 looking more like the IOS.
It's clear Samsung is making their phones simpler which is great touch wiz was horrible. I currently own a tab s7 plus which which I use for my torrents and and comics and movies a phone with storage that was limited used to be my biggest gripe wis gripe with Apple I now own airpods pro and they are great. So what's really keeping me around with Samsung is loyalty to the brand. I've never had an iPhone and the cameras I cannot lie are starting to become better and even from other iphone 12 pro max are even better then my ultra s21. Would yall consider the jump.
First let me say every has their opinion and preferences and they're entitle to have them. I like thick Carmel shakes with strawberries. Some folks like cottage cheese . None the less you can not deny that Samsung Ultra 21 has more features to also include wires budds... That fit..... A coworker shared with me something she read "IPhone are status symbols" I will add with no usefulness. Like subarus owners with bike racks and no bike. I mean you can do a side by side comparison... Check Sakitech you YouTube his channel he recently did a comparison

I just left Apple.... sold my iPhone 12 Pro and bought an S21 Ultra. I actually like the cameras on this phone compared to the iPhone. And seeing that the 13 is basically an "S" year type spec bump, it's not enough to entice me to go back.
