"Honestly though, IR? It's 2021"

you think 2021 is 2080
Not crazy amount in phone world changed from 2016 to 2021 we still have slabs only bump phone performance moving camera arrangement around in the back of the phone lol.
We still have light bulbs in 2021
Sockets and switches for appliances
No cars driving in the sky yet and we still have gasoline cars for some time to name a few .

Not 2080, just not 1980 either haha.

We still have light bulbs, but they are LEDs that are controlled by voice not wasteful tungsten filaments with a switch. We still have cars, but an increasing number of them are electric... And you're a mechanic, you know very well you'd be lying if you said that a gasoline Mustang from the 80s and a 2021 Mach E have anything in common once you scratch the surface.

Like it or not, time and technology move on.

I'm at least as cynical as you... As I said, it's just not that simple. Although if you think Apple is courageous, that's on you.

Apple didn't remove the headphone jack to save money. They also didn't remove the headphones from the box to save money, or the environment. The cost of these things is negligible.

They removed them... Wait for it... To sell airpods! You can't upsell something that's free.
Not just airpods but the ear pods(yes people still buy them even they though they don't come in the box). It was mainly about money not saving money but to make more. They are racking in a ton with their adapters. May seem insignificant to you but using a proprietary keeps the cash flowing which is a reason they are so resistant on moving fully to type see. It will eat into their profits of selling additional cables(not that they still won't sell a ton) but it will eat into their profit.

I would rather have a gasoline mustang from 1980 then electric mach 1 , but the mach 1 or any electric vehicle are pretty cool accomplishment.
1980 to 2021 is a very very big gap, from 2016 to 2021 lol
I agree technology is improving and im for it and adapt as it comes but some things like led notification or replacement battery without separation of the phone are still ok was little earl in my opinion to take out , as for IR blaster yeah its gone and i accept that as well as the other things we mentioned but you see how Andriod going now? Taking lot of things away what made them Andriod and going to be basic pretty soon and that i dont like in my opinion otherwise i can stick with my other phone Apple lol

I can understand that perspective. I doubt I would ever invest in Airpods (though I am definitely an audiophile) or Galaxy Buds but I can imagine many do.

One of the selling points of the S10 series for me was the headphone jack... Then I didn't use it in 2 years because Bluetooth earbuds are just so much better of an experience. Airpods are awful though lol.

I'm part of the "problem". Hahaha.

As a person who switches back and fourth all the time. I say go for it and give iPhone a try it may be the phone for you. While I really do like the iPhone, android just offers more for what I like in a device.

Things I can stand about ios are the homescreen. You can't and never will be able to put apps and widget where you want. The whole lack of customization on an iPhone drives me crazy.

Notifications are just bad like really bad. I picked up an iPad pro and forgot about how bad they really are.

Siri was always a frustration and worked pretty bad.

Syncing between other products that are not apple can be frustrating. You can't sync icloud with anything but apple devices. You can sync some stuff with windows but not much. You will have to find a universal cloud storage.

Things I like about iPhone are optimization of hardware and software. Apps built for both Android and ios tend to be better looking and function better on ios. The insane amount of time they support their devices. Software updates to fix issues are pushed more frequently.

If you happen to have anymore apple products the way they work seamlessly together.

Both platforms do the same thing at the end of the day. It's just really comes down to personal preference.

This has turned into the best reason to switch the ideas are great
I considered jumping back with the 13. It offers nothing enticing for me. I could honestly careless about a camera in a phone. The only other upgrade is the 120hz which my s21 already has and cost me less.

Plus the one ui 4 is looking like a very nice addition to samsung.

I will say that if you do jump, definitely try out the apple watch. Apple nailed the watch completely.

With that being said the galaxy watch 4 is pretty damn close to what the apple watch offers. It just feels like a more solid platform with Samsung moving to wear os.

Luckily i kept a balance on both platforms where i could walk away from one or the other .

I'm trying to get there. My desktop and laptop are Macs. I still love my iPad Pro. Switching to the S21 Ultra and Galaxy Watch have loosened the chains a bit..... lol

I have the base s21 and the galaxy watch 4. I have the M1 air and the M1 iPad pro.

That seems to be a nice combination for both platforms. Especially with sidecar, I tried it out for the first time the other day. Man is that a great feature especially with the 12.9 ipad.

Personally macOS is way better than windows will ever be. The iPad really shines when using it in combination with macOS IMO.

I have the 2nd gen 11 inch iPad Pro, it does well enough that I don't need to upgrade just yet.. and the Macs are 2017 & 2018, respectively. I didn't jump on the M1's because many of the apps I use weren't supported yet.. How are you liking the Galaxy Watch 4? Compared to my Apple Watch Series 4, the battery life is excellent.

I have the 8 plus and it is a good phone. Cameras are average even for its age and iOS 15 is ok to use. I prefer Instagram and Day One journal on the iPhone over the android version but that is pretty much the only apps. I won't move to another iPhone until that godawful notch is gone for good. That puts me off ever upgrading to a newer iPhone.

I like my android phones too much. The customisation and use case is better for me overall than iOS. I am looking forward to a Pixel 6 Pro in the New Year.

But if you want to move to the iPhone 13 you will possibly like it. There are widgets now and an app library. These have made the operating system more palatable for me. You may have to buy apps again though. Some apps have a subscription that works across platforms, like Pencake and Day One Journal for instance, but most others you have to buy or subscribe again. Bear that in mind.

This is why apple does well. They control the hardware and software.

You said everything perfect. I would also add this, buying accessories is a lot easier for iphone then Androids. You walk into any store and 80% or more of the space is for iphones.

Yes that notch is very awful. They did minimize it so I'm curious how it looks, but the notch will always be my least favorite all screen design.

With android 12 looking more like the IOS.
It's clear Samsung is making their phones simpler which is great touch wiz was horrible. I currently own a tab s7 plus which which I use for my torrents and and comics and movies a phone with storage that was limited used to be my biggest gripe wis gripe with Apple I now own airpods pro and they are great. So what's really keeping me around with Samsung is loyalty to the brand. I've never had an iPhone and the cameras I cannot lie are starting to become better and even from other iphone 12 pro max are even better then my ultra s21. Would yall consider the jump.
Absolutely not. I just tried to use an iPhone 12 pro max and there is so much missing. The Cameras on the s21 ultra are better than iPhone, the customizations, that horrible notch, etc... Just, no. I lasted 3 days and then returned it.

Anyone thinking the grass is greener over on the Apple side is in for a rude awakening, LOL.

Get past the "oooooh look shiny new object" phase and realize the freedom you will be giving up.
Tired of Samsung? OK get another of the 20x mainline branded Android phones.

As the only Android user in my house I get to see, on the daily, the drawbacks of crApple products and ecosystem.

For a lot of people they don't want the customization. They just want a phone that works good as a phone for texting, talking, and basic apps like Facebook. For those people the iPhone is probably better for them, as there's no argument that the iPhone does those well. Everything else to these people are considered gimmicks, things they don't need or want.

Android offers the customization, but that comes with a price a lot of times. Tweaking something in one area causes issues somewhere else and now you have to figure out how to fix another issue and keep what you tweaked. There's a lot of people that don't want that headache and for that reason, sometimes the grass is greener on the other side.

They say that until it comes to Apple. Take widgets for instance when they came the community went crazy with customizing and creating videos of themes you can make even though it's still a water down version of what you can do on Android lol. Just wait until aod and multi window(even though it won't be called that) comes to the iPhone. Apple users are just conditioned to take what they're allowed and deal with is because let's face it if you want iOS there's only one manufacturer. Android has so many choices that they don't have as much of a liberty to do the same. Couple that with having low price and mid range phones the choices increase even more, but trust there are millions of iOS users waiting for more Android features to be added to the Apple ecosystem.

I'm not referring to people that come here, I should have clarified that. Most people I know, even if they have android have no clue what they can do with the phone. Most are very content on what apple offers, and offers very well with little issues. They just want plug and play. Samsung is good at that also, but when apple has the popularity they do, and iMessage is no doubt a selling point, and apple links their products good, people just get iphones for simplicity IMO.

Lol funny my comment wasn't based on those here either just people I know or occasionally run into out and about. Whatever new galaxy phone I get it always gets attention from iPhone users where they say sexy device or that device has me thinking of switching, but can never do it due to FaceTime(which I don't get) or iMessage(totally get). I will give credit were it's due. When Apple did that iMessage refresh they hit it out the park although I'm convinced they stole a few things from Verizon messages and Facebook messenger lol the reactions feature a long with a few others would be very welcomed on Android. That's about the only thing I could see myself wanting from iOS. Would be nice if they ever truly opened up the platform beyond iOS but Apple is much too smart of a company to ever make that mistake
