Thinking of leaving Samsung S21 Ultra for iPhone 13 Pro Max...

So far I’m still getting used to the iPhone in terms of swiping. I do love the camera though it’s easier to take pictures the galaxy s21 ultra pictures are great but the IPhone is easier to point and shoot.

Im not crazy on the iPhone camera layout, Samsung much better in this department

When I look at my phone as much as I do in a day, I want to enjoy looking at it. iOS is not a joyful experience for me. The UI is so uninspiring, boring and old. I tried the 12 Pro for a few months before I sold it and came to the S21 Ultra. I was tempted by the shiny and new of the iPhone 12. The notch was annoying when playing games or watching video content. Hardware wise, it was a beautiful device to use and look at. Best ever in my opinion. But software to me is vastly more important and not just apps.
You hit the nail on the head. The UI is very boring and uninspiring. Kind of reminds me of how Toyota's were before their new refresh. Yes they're considered reliable, but if the cabin and infotainment system is mundane then where's the excitement when you drive it? That's how iOS makes me feel. Their iPads are probably their best iOS products, but after a few months it becomes a bore and you're left looking for something a little more entertaining. Although I'm ready for a new tablet it's not out of sheer boredom with my Tab S7+ as it's been fantastic and I can be content with it for a few more years. I'm just a tech junkie that's always looking for the next new piece of hardware lol.

Really? I think the ultra seems like 120hz. 13 pro max needs an update to fix the issues as most apps don’t support the 120hz animations

The iPhone just got released... this week? I don't think Apple needs an update to fix but that devs will quickly update their apps to utilize 120hz. MKBD says Google Maps still runs its app at 60hz no matter what.

I went from the s21 ultra to iPhone 13 pro max I hadn't used an iPhone since the 3gs but I do own the 12.9 iPad pro, I really like the hardware of the iPhone but my issues where more with the software I can't stand the back button being in the top left corner, the fact you can't close all the apps at once, I also didn't like the keyboard and SwiftKey is somewhat limited on ios, so I'm going to return it this weekend I ended up trading my s21 ultra for the z fold 3 and I'm really enjoying this phone, either way do what's best for you.

My iPhone was plagued with all the issues like the screen being unresponsive the screen dimming after watching a video-game for a couple of minutes and my internet was terrible 5g or LTE, but they just sent out a software update that's supposed to fix the touch screen issue, I was thinking of keeping them both but I don't need 2 phones plus I already like the z fold 3 more than having a regular phone hope you enjoy your new IPhone 13 pro max.

One more thing I can't stand the lighting cable because I have a grip of USB type c and only one lighting cableway

There is just no true replacement in iOS for the back button they way it is in Android(which is much more superior). Also still can't believe they have no close all for exiting apps. They say things are easier to do on iOS, but I just don't see it. Seems like it takes a few more steps than it does on Android like deleting texts. Can't just long press on a thread and then delete which is super easy to do on Android.

iOS does have the swipe from the sides to go back. But I agree some things take more steps on iOS.

In comparison, I think iOS gestures are superior than Samsung's or Google's gestures. Although you can customize them on Samsung One ui. So maybe it's a bit closer or only slightly better on iOS. Even so, it's not enough to sway me over to iOS. I had the 12 Pro so my experience with it is pretty fresh on my mind.

I agree with that back button.. I never close all apps on iOS not needed IMO but nice to have for those that feel the need to close them..

I'm reading the replies and seeing "back button, back button, back button"... and wondering, "What back button??" lol.

Then, I think, I realize.... is everyone talking about the back button on the Navigation Bar??

Can't be... I mean I stopped using the Navigation bar since Note 8 so forgot it was still an option lol. It can't be right??... cause saying Android implemented Swipe Gestures not superior to the old navigation bar/buttons??

If there is another Back Button I'd really like to know what you are referring to.

I do agree with the lack of close all apps though on iOS.

I agree on that even though the Android implemented Gestures are pretty much the same as iOS' but I think (and wondering if you agree) that part of it that makes it superior is the smoothness of the animations when making the gestures??

I mean I am on an "old" iPhone XR I use when I'm out riding or running cause I don't want to lug a bigger N20U and dont think it'd be as durable (and I don't care if the XR does get smashed) but the 3 yo phone is running 15.0.2 and the animation is so smooth and fluid it feels faster and more precise than when I use the same gestures on my N20U.

I mean those gestures on my XR @ 60hz... visually looks more smoother than my N20U @ 120hz, right??

IceUniverse on Twitter has been slamming Samsung on their animations forever but I do feel they really need to work on it better on future OneUI builds.

Haha no…iOS has back to previous on top of screens ..Uuu can slide from left side back in plenty of them ..there are just a few situations peeps miss the back like Android…I don’t have any issues with it since I’ve had iPhone for so long it’s second nature …

Oh oh oh ok, that’s what people are talking about… in some apps when you drill down you see the back arrow up top to go back. Like in Mail app and Settings. Duh, lol.

I didn’t even think about that cause I’m so use to just swiping from the left side of any page to go back. I can’t think of a time it doesn’t work.

Doesnt Samsung do the exact same thing?? (At least on my N20U) Going to Setttings and drilling down, they put a back to previous at the top left corner on every page too.

Thanks for the clarity.

Yeah slide works perfectly..and I use gestures in Android so it’s a wash to me …both you can see recents from bottom if you choose by sliding …

I like the android gestures. Have no problem getting them to work anytime for me also love that you can go back to previous by swiping either from the left or right side. Makes it really intuitive and interactive.

Gestures, back button... It will always be referred to as back button as that's the function the swipe or gestures does now days. I've been doing gestures when there were still actual buttons on the phone, Nova was doing that for a long time before apple and Google thought of it.

Yeah, that brings me back... When I had my LG G2 I was running Nova. I think maybe as far back as my Nexus 4. They were cutting edge. Haven't installed it on my N8 or N20U cause I like OneUI and the gestures have been fine.

I never ran multiple phones in the past but been having fun going back and forth between the two. Both have so many features I haven't really dived into but have been playing when reading this discussion. iOS has that same old look and gives the impression nothing has changed but if you spend the time you can see a lot of features that can make things easier.

You can hold down on virtually every icon just like you can on Android with quick shortcuts, etc.

I always just put Nova on my phones just because I know it. To lazy to learn new system

So after a few weeks of having both the S21 ultra and iPhone 13 pro max, I prefer the S21 ultra. Don't get me wrong I love the iphone 13 pro max, it's cool to use iMessage with family and friends as well as facetime but that's the thing though...at the end of the day it's still an iPhone. Despite the upgrade of the high refresh rate and the bigger battery ( which is stellar by the way), it's still an iPhone and you can get the exact same experience with older iPhones and iOS is still iOS. I find myself using my S21 ultra way more, mainly because it's more comfortable to hold and use. I also appreciate the extra features it offers over what iOS has. I'm gonna keep both devices but I genuinely think that the S21 ultra is the better device because of it's features and it's versatility from the camera.
