Thinking of making the switch...

I have a Lumia 920 right now and have not seen or heard of any WP on att that I would want to buy. I am thinking of switching to the G3, but there are a few questions I have about the phone.
One feature on my L920 is the screen changes when I am in the sunlight as compared to being in the shade. Is this something the G3 can do? It is not a deal breaker for me, but it is a feature I really enjoy on my L920.
Will the g3 get Android L? I always want to upgrade my software when something new comes out.

Are you referring to auto brightness? Or another feature. Pretty much every phone should have it.

Yeah...auto brightness.
I did not know mostly every phone has the feature because most of my friends are always covering their phones to see their screens in the sunlight.

Auto brightness adjustment works great, and there are plenty of other free options for you from the Google Play store if you want to further customize how this is done. You will get very used to having thousands of applications at your disposal. :)

Android L will be coming to the G3.

I really like my L920, but I have had it for almost two years and I ned something new. I am getting excited about finally being able to buy the phone. It seems to have all of the features I love about my L920 and much much more.
I saw a person using one at a tailgate I was attending and played with it for a few minutes. Maybe this weekend I will be able to go pick it up.

The G3 is well worth getting. I came over from Blackberry, and found the switch to be much easier than I thought. Of course, this may be the same for other Android phones too, but the G3 is certainly one of the best you can buy just now.

People have been asking me if I would recommend this phone, and I just can't. Screen is dull and bad in sunlight, multitasking is annoying (click multitasking button and app you were just in doesn't show a lot of the time, accidentally swipe out wrong app as you expect current app to be there), processor just doesn't seem like it can handle the screen resolution. Of course everyone else that has one will say how great it is.

Will it get L? Hopefully, but who knows when. Maybe that will fix multitasking.

A bit of a generalisation, isn't it?

There are, of course, fan-boys out there, but please don't categorise everyone in the same bracket. Just because you find the above an issue, which I'm happy to take your word for, doesn't mean I do. My G3 is fine in sunlight, multi-taking is fine & the 801 processor hasn't given me any issues. I've moaned a bit about the battery - others apparently get days. Good for them.

You came over from a BB, though. I came from a One X, and the screen owns the G3 screen and is two years older.

I switched from a L1520 to the LG G3. IMO, while in ideal viewing conditions, the screen on the G3 can looks as good/better than the screen on the L1520, depending on what you are viewing on screen. In less than ideal conditions, the L1520 was much better, particular in direct sunlight. The screen on the LG G3, though, is still really good, IMO.

That wasn't my point. But ok, ill take you word for that (which was my point).

OP: You must have noticed a pixel difference between the 920 and the G3?

Also JaiMento, could you see pixels on the 1520 display?

I have a 1020, about midway between the two in pixel density, and can see pixels sometimes.

Not really. I'm sure if I looked hard enough I might have seen some, but for everyday use, I never noticed any pixelation.

Hmmmm....I might just get me a 1520 while they seem to be selling them cheap.

Well there's the rub. Until a couple of months ago Carphone Warehouse, which is the store I tend to use, were selling them for £600. Then the price dropped suddenly to £350 or thereabouts, I can't remember exactly, but low. After a short time however they stopped stocking them so I'd now have to buy online. Very nice device.

(I gave you that Thanks icon BTW but it was unintentional....though if course I wish you well.)

Thanks for the info. BTW, you can always "Remove Your Thanks" as well, in case you didn't know. Anyway, I wish you well as well...

I have not spent that much time with the g3 to see the pixel difference.

Since people are saying viewing the phone while in direct sunlight is not the best, the auto brightness does not work as well on my L920. I can see everything perfectly in direct sunlight. Can anybody else give me some info on their interactions with this feature.

I was at the att store the other day playing with the phone, but I am not sure what I am going to do. I always want the latest software and I have been reading that LG has not confirmed the phone will get L yet. Different websites say different things, but I do not want a phone that will have an out dated OS a month or two after I buy it. HTC has said the m8 will get it...so I am torn.

G3 has the smartest auto-brightness that I've seen on a device.
Beware if you are frequently in fringe signal areas, however. The AT&T G3 has a weaker radio than most.

I highly doubt LG would skip out on the biggest Android update ever for their latest flagship. It would make a little (very little) more sense if they released a few more devices since the g3 but they haven't so I'm 99% sure the g3 will get L.

As for the op, screen is awesome on the g3. I live in a desert-like environment and encounter direct sunlight everyday. I don't use auto brightness but I can see my screen perfectly at 40% outside even with the sun hitting it.
