Thinking of switching to a p2xl as I'm missing the stock Android experience from my old nexus 5 and like the unlimited Google storage as well as the guaranteed 2 years of updates from Google/first to receive updates. Thoughts or expectations for someone who is currently using a powerhouse device?

Tried the OP5T and was not a fan of the haptic feedback as well as the fact that I was charged several thousand dollars from a fraudulent transaction due to my card number being stolen from their payment portal.

Is the OS the only feature of the Pixel line you are looking for? What features of the Note are you currently using, that you're willing to give up? Wireless charging? S-Pen? Samsung Pay?

Don't really use the pen but am a frequent user of samsung pay. I think the picture quality is also something that I would enjoy as I'm very meticulous about the pictures that I take. That and the unlimited storage as I'm currently paying Google for 1TB/ year

Well it's unlimited photo storage.. not Google drive storage. Keep that in mind.

It's also only for uploaded photos from a Pixel. Any photo uploaded before 2020 gets unlimited original storage. After that any new photos count.

The two year warranty isn't bad either

So I made this switch (with an iPhone in the middle) and wouldn't go back to the Note 8 no matter what and am thinking I may actually keep this phone until it's successor. Camera, battery, UI, smoothness, updates are all way better than the Note, which might I add is still on 7.1. I'd bet the Pixel gets a L preview before the Note sees 8.1. The camera on this thing is out of this world though, makes the Note 8 look like trash sometimes (even though the Note 8 camera is very good).

Were there any features you missed on the note when making the switch?

Kind of missed wireless charging and Samsung Pay being more accessible but that's it really. My Gear Sport works well with the Pixel but cannot answer calls or respond to texts so that is a bit of a let down but I rarely replied from my watch and didn't answer on it if I could help it.

I don't get why they put an expiration on that. What happens when you get a new pixel in 2018-2019? Will the 2020 go to 2021-2022??

They most likely will extend it for newer phones.

The photos/videos uploaded before 2020 stay unlimited forever. it is just new photos after said data start to count... it is not retroactive.

Source (store.google.com):

Free, unlimited original-quality storage for photos and videos taken with Pixel through the end of 2020, and free, unlimited high-quality storage for photos taken with Pixel afterwards.

But I thought the storage for Google photos is unlimited either way if not at the highest quality. I've been backing up my photos and videos to google on my iPhone and the quality is perfect

Yes if you set it to high quality you can get free unlimited storage.. But not for "original' quality photo/video. Such as if I shoot a 4k Video for 10 mins and upload it to Google Photos it will take no storage AND it will stay 4k. It won't be compressed in any way.

For most high-quality is fine for their photos.

Yeah even the videos I backup at high quality are great.

Great but not true 4k ;).

It will work for most people -- the difference is simply they won't touch the quality at all. What it shoots is 100% what will be there, unlimited, and free until the end of 2020. After that any new pictures won't have this same stigma and "Original" quality will take away from cloud storage.
