Thinking of trading in SIII for EVO LTE, Need Advice!

someone must be pretty insecure about his phone purchase decision to be trolling the forum of a different phone. That's ok, the EVO LTE is a decent phone too, you'll be happy with it once you get over not having waited for the S3

And after the latest update, I feel even better about the EVO LTE, perhaps you should too...oh that's right you have a craptastic S3 :-(

The snapdragon soc is the radio and it's the same on both phones. I compared the s3 and lte at the sprint store and on the about network screen they were both receiving the same signal strength.

You do realize that most Sprint stores have repeaters installed inside. Phones perform at maximum levels inside Sprint stores. Geez., shaking my headed because almost all phones used inside the store will get a full signal, at least in Dayton they do.

Actually I'm trying to save S3 users while they have their return option available to them.

HAHA that's funny because I feel the exactly the same way, but I'm trying to save the HTC EVO user. People always put up subjective things like build quality over actual quality. There appears to be less defective GS3's vs HTC phones, and also about the poor build quality, you should watch the torture test they put the gs3 through, and it came back for more.

can't argue with real world results.

You'll never know until you try them both for yourself. I spent two weeks with the Evo and took it back for the SIII. So far, LOVING the S3. In my experience, the camera is better, the software is faster and more fluid, there is less bloat, Touchwiz is ACTUALLY adding functionality to Android 4.0 rather than hindering it (I'm looking at you, HTC multitasking), GPS locks on faster, and the build quality is superior. That last point is entirely subjective, but after owning an Evo 3D for 3 months and having the metal frame bent in on the front, I wasn't going to risk it with the LTE (especially because it looks to be made from similar metals).

Battery life is also an improvement, and hey, even if it's not (which it is), there's an option for a second battery or even an extended battery. The phone charges nearly twice as fast as the Evo. The development on this phone is KILLER and to top it all off, you get an extra gig of ram. I keep hearing from evo users: "blargh, benchmarks! blargh!" It's been almost 3 years since benchmarks were taken seriously for a phone's day-to-day performance. They mean almost nothing these days. I also hear "Blargh, Sense > Touchwiz!" How? Why? Because of oversized widgets? Because it looks "prettier?" Sense does have some decent aesthetic cues here and there, but overall, Sense to me is like this overweight tank of a woman who wears too much makeup. EVERYTHING in Android 4.0 has been in one way or another "touched up" by Sense, for better or for worse (and usually for worse). Case in point:

Multitasking
Browser
Notification bar (no toggles, no percentage on stock)
Launcher (constantly reloads because it is a resource hog)
The friggin' ONSCREEN MENU BUTTON that takes up ~10% screen space on certain apps
Poorly designed physical buttons (Camera button is not really two-stage, sticky and recessed volume and power buttons)
Inconsistent/laggy transitions

The pro's are that you get a nicer screen, slightly better radios, a kickstand, and troll privileges on the S3 forums :P

Dropping a phone on polished tile is nothing like dropping a phone on hard concrete, gimme a break. There are videos out there of Evo LTE 's being drop on sidewalks and still do not break.

Too bad you bailed before the updates. Most of your prior EVO LTE issues have been resolved.

Last time I checked, my friend's Evo still had that insanely bad browser, the terrible on-screen menu button, lack of any toggles or percentage readings on the notification bar, and Sense reloads itself once a day instead of 3 times a day. And the multitasking is STILL piss poor.

I wish HTC would look at these issues, change the form-factor (same color/materials across the entire back), add a removable battery, pull back Sense, drop an extra gig of ram, and re-release the Evo LTE as the Evo 2 or something. I LOVED the Evo line of phones, especially the original one, but unfortunately they just could not let up on Sense. HTC fans, don't be disgruntled that you have lost this battle with Samsung this time, there will be others in the future and I'm hoping HTC doesn't drop out of the fight, otherwise it's Samsung VS. Motorola for flagship devices, and we all know this is no competition at all.

You wasted your time responding to me. Hope you didn't type that lengthy response on your phone? LOL cuz EVOLTE >S3

I've had the Evo since it was released by customs. When the GSIII was announced, I actually thought it was a nice looking phone and I have played with it a couple of times at length in the Sprint store. I think ultimately it will come down to preference since there is no significant feature on the Samsung phone which can't be found in the Play Store and vice versa.

I am personally happy with my purchase. I love the build quality of the Evo. It's thin and light, yet sturdy. The Evo's screen looks crisp and accurate (it's a wonderful screen :-). Battery life on the Evo is vastly better than the previous Evo. Then there's the coolness factor. The kickstand holds the phone up in not only landscape, but portrait mode, and that alone provides my coworkers with phone envy.

Evo LTE users take note: This is how you talk about your phone without trolling or looking like an ass.

Got my Evo Lte about a 3 weeks ago. Bought a white GS3 last week for $99 (win?) Loved the features, shortcuts, s voice, hell I even liked touchwiz! I really liked the White look of the phone and it felt amazing to hold. However, being a music lover, The GS3 didn't give me the features that I was looking for.

Evo features I love: Having soundhound integrated into the music player is amazing. Gracenote should be more publicized as it is a music lovers dream. Adding album art gets annoying but Gracenote will add it for you on all of your albums. Dragging apps on top of each other to make folders is a ICS MUST HAVE!!! Why samsung did it the way they did is dumb and very annoying, not to mention ugly with the folder being a manila folder. The dedicated camera button is a must have to.

GS3 features I love: Swipe right on contact to call and swipe left to text is genious. While in text conversations put the phone to your ear to call that person. S voice is really usefull and just needs to expand it's understandings. Toggle widgets in the notification bar is a must have, kinda dissapointed sense 4.0 doesn't have the quick settings but sense 3.6 does.

Both phones are amazing phones. My overall decision was to go back to the evo. There are apps that brings a lot of the features the GS3 has to the EVO so that made my decision final. White GS3 16gb for sale!
