Thinking of trading in SIII for EVO LTE, Need Advice!

Why do evo owners troll the gs3 board? I don't really understand it. I just went to the evo board and didn't see a single gs3 user trolling there. If there were, I would understand it but it's not the case.

Not trolling at all. There are a lot of EVO mentions over here, which is what drew me in in the first place. I'm just calling things like I see them, and trying to keep things fair and balanced. You know, like Fox News ;). When I see something blatantly inaccurate, I point it out.
I didn't see anything in the forum rules that forbid one from posting in a forum other than the phone they own. You're more than welcome to come on over and point out any S3 misconceptions or inaccuracies.
If you feel that I have trolled in any way, please point out my offending posts and I will be more than happy to edit said posts to comply with forum rules.

I think people like to know how others are experiencing the phones they may have had or the same software that they used. I don't think it has to be looked at from a negative positron. We as humans are naturally curious and I don't think complaining is going to change that. Just sayin...:D:thumbup:;)

I'm planning to upgrade from SGII (Epic Touch) and am having a tough time deciding between these two phones. My original EVO worked fine at bottom of my condo elevator to garage but the SG2 always loses voice calls. I'd rather go with SG3 over LTEvo but Samsung just doesn't have a very good record with radios.

After reading problems with both, I'm thinking of trying the SG3 and returning if it loses call in my elevator but am wondering this. If I buy at the eligible price ($200 - $250) and then return the SG3, can I get the LTEvo at the $200 price point or do I lose the discounted price with first purchase?

LTE is coming to my market July 15th, so won't be making a move until then.

Posters are free to visit any forum they wish, regardless of the device they own, as long they are respectful. I'm a proud owner of an S3. Just bought my son an HTC Evo lte.
My post and link are relevant to the OP's thread.

@Nreeldeep: can't quote your last since you put your reply within your quote of skunkape.
If your post and link was relevant to the OP, then my reply to your link is no less relevant. I don't need a forum thread to tell me that it's a dumb idea to put a phone in my back pocket and then sit on it. Call that disrespectful if you will, but I stand behind my opinion on that matter.

Thanks to all who posted. I ended up switching to the EVO. I can now text from the office, so that problem is solved! This phone still isn't getting as good of reception as I feel it should, but it is better than the S3. The wifi and 3G data speeds also seem better. I will miss the S3's extra storage and RAM, but I do like Sense better than Touchwiz, and I also think the EVO has the nicer (albeit smaller) screen.

Amen. That's the beauty of democracy.

Mkay, so a few idiots carry a thin aluminum phone in their back pockets, sit on them, and wonder why they bend...
I carry my phone in my front pocket, all day, every day, and I have no problem. I don't wear skinny jeans though ;)
The thread has 11 pages. Had you taken the time to read through them you would have found many mentions of posters' devices bending after being in the front pocket, never in the back, which brought up the issue of perhaps a weak point in the aluminum frame where the top plastic half meets the kickstand. There might be an inherent weak spot right there.
It's worth a mention if people, who don't ridiculously sit on their devices, are finding a slight bend in the frame.

I switched from the Evo 3D to the SGS3 and learned to love Touchwiz, and the calendar that came standard was better than Jorte, which I have been using since joining android. And like you, I was having data issues, as well dropped calls, and switched to the Evo LTE.

By the end of the day I couldn't wait to get back my SGS3, and exchanged back the next day. I loved my 3D, but the LTE didn't really add anything that I didn't already have with the 3D, and it made many things worse.

First is the lack of ability to change batteries. Not good at all for me, since I can burn through at least one to two batteries a day. Second, any extra screen that was gained from it being larger, was lost because they did away with the menu button and added a "Settings" button on the screen?? WTF?? And as I noted, they did away with a "Menu" button. Why? Now I have to find it depending on which app I am running.

Also, the multitasking is a mess. Very un-user friendly. Hard to navigate to find a prior app. Lastly, the LTE was very laggy. Not nearly as smooth navigating from screen to screeen that I have exprienced from the SGS3.

So basically in a nutshell, the only advantage to me was the better data speeds, but otherwise it's a been there done that situation for me for the LTE.

I'm glad you are happy with your LTE, and I will look at HTC the next time they introduce a high-end phone, but for now I am going to enjoy my SGS3 and hope that the lack of data speeds and dropped calls won't make me pull out my hair. Lol.

Make the switch to the EVO LTE for you will not be disappointed. Better everything period and as multitasking has been an issue for some everything this else is better on the Evolte. As for the radios, HTC has far better radios than those craptastic Samsung radios. Join us and feel free to move about the country.

someone must be pretty insecure about his phone purchase decision to be trolling the forum of a different phone. That's ok, the EVO LTE is a decent phone too, you'll be happy with it once you get over not having waited for the S3

It's not trolling. Samsung is known for radio issues and it would be good to know if LTEvo radio is better or not or if it at last better than SG2. My SG2 does not work at bottom of my condo garage elevator yet my original EVO did. I'm waiting til July 15th (when LTE is suppose to rollout in my market) and then I'll get the SG3. If it doesn't work at bottom of my elevator, I'll be switching back to HTC. Will report the results.

What you say may be true.... except that guy was still obviously trolling and has S3 envy. Lol

If you use the Android Central app and choose to read the latest tab it takes you to phones other then your own fyi. I often read posts on forums on phones other then the one I own because sometimes things are related not to just that specific phone, and sometimes I am considering switching so will read other phone forums.

The snapdragon soc is the radio and it's the same on both phones. I compared the s3 and lte at the sprint store and on the about network screen they were both receiving the same signal strength.

i say the EVO.
after having both and now the S3 if I could go back I would.
the EVO seems faster with EVERYTHING!

EVO4GLTE best choice and now the few issues all are fixed with the update.;):D

I owned both and my buddy has an EVO 4G LTE.

Side by side there is no difference in actual call or 3g signals.

WIFI is better on the SIII.

I'm not sure that it isn't trolling. When some users on the evo forums are having trouble, the advice is "Oh you must have a lemon. Just get it exchanged". However when its a gs3 problem it's "Oh, Samsung are notorious for bad radio's. Buy evo instead!!"

Oh and no offence darthgrady. But from your past post, i get the feeling the evo is the phone you wanted originally all along. And you would have found something to dislike about the s3 any way
