Third Party Launchers

I'm one of those that came from a Microsoft OS and Nokia phones, so I'm using the Microsoft launcher. Yes, bash away, but I'm all in on Microsoft products and the launcher is really smooth and clean and Edge is amazing. I think it's great that they make their products work seamlessly on Android and you have some crossplatform compatibility (like I can continue my browsing session on my phone right on my Windows 10 desktop and receive notifications while on my computer).

Each to their own, but i wouldn't trust any MS products tbh, they are all crusty in one way or another n full of annoying bugs. Windows, Office, android apps all have their own issues.

You can sync web sessions on pretty much any browser worth its salt these days anyway. Sorry but edge is just complete poo.

I tired to change Icons on TW and couldn't get them to work. Again, I'm not the most tech savvy person around. I knew Nova would support it and I had purchased Nova Prime years ago, so I just downloaded it. Its a cool device, and to each their own.

I agree i also prefer the individual nova icon packs to the TW ones, because there's so much more choice and they are usually better quality.

Some of the TW themes include icon packs and work when you apply a whole theme, but i also had a few icon packs working separately too.

Though it has gotten much better, I can't live with any stock launcher on any phone. I'm always on Nova or Apex. I really wish Apex would support their app better because I really like it and prefer some things over Nova but they just aren't consistent with updates and have fallen behind. I love Nova but I have issues with badge unread counts and I really wish they'd add a few new scrolling effects. Go Launcher has the best scrolling effects but I don't like that launcher otherwise. Nova and Apex are almost identical. Does anyone know of any other similar apps to Nova? I've tried a handful of other launchers and haven't liked any other than Apex and Nova.

I assume you are using the latest teslaunread for the badge counts? it just works for me.

I keep trying to go back to the stock launcher, but there's just things I can do with Nova Prime that it can't do. Like fit up to 7 apps on the dock, I like the widgets a lot better and the app drawer, just to name a few. There are many more customizations that Nova can do that I like. Went back to Nova again today and I'll stay with that.

This. Nova just adds extra layers of customization and convenience. I can rename/change icons, I can overlap widgets if need be, I can change the app drawer to scroll vertically instead of horizontally. So much more can be done with Nova that I cant use anything else.

This. 1000x

Yes. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling both Nova and Tesla several times. It doesn't work properly for my messages. Works for all other apps though.

Only issue I have with TeslaUnread is it is currently broken on my S9+ for the Voicemail app(Verizon/Samsung). I let them know and sent them logs of when I receive voicemails that don't pop a bubble up on the icon but I haven't seen any update yet(it's been more than a week). Is this the messaging you are referring to?

Otherwise TeslaUnread works great.

I didn't even install Tesla unread on my S9+, just went into the settings - notification badges and turned them on. I may end up installing Tesla later on though.

I'm having problems with my text messaging app. I'm using stock. It just doesn't show a bubble half of the time. It's a minor thing but ready annoys me. Lol

Yes! All of those things! Especially overlapping the widgets. This is my clock widget sitting in the middle of my weather widget. And of course the awesome dock you get to customize.

the only thing that keeps me from using the stock launcher is the option to lock down the icons and widgets so i can't accidentally move them around
and to disable the dock
and to let me arrange my icons how i please not just in a straight line
hmm crap i am never going to get these am i :D
oh well, hello third party launchers :-*

Do you have to make Samsung Experience 9 minimal (no apps on home screen) to get the best performance with a third party launcher? Does it even matter? Anyone using BlackBerry Launcher? Thanks in advance 😁

Nah makes no odds, in fact i have my sammy exp homepage loaded with stuff as well as Nova. There is a slight performance hit when using any launcher in some apps. For example the pic/vid gallery scrolls through content slightly faster when using sammy experience, than under Nova. For pretty much all other apps its not noticeable.

I like Samsung Experience launcher as it has gotten so much better vs touchwiz. However, since Oreo on both my S9+ and N8 badge notifications are really inconsistent. When I use Nova Prime and their Tesla Unread add-on it works so much better.
