Jesus. H. Christ.
My first smartphone was a BlackBerry, loved the battery life, hated the interface. I got an iPad and decided I enjoyed the iOs and moved up to an iPhone 4. Loved the interface, but was not a fan of the screen typing or the battery. I'd usually get a full day out of it, but barely. My upgrade was up in December but I figured I'd hold onto it as long as my iPhone lasted. The iPhone went toast last week and it was time to use the upgrade. I was going to originally hold out for the BB Q10 because I really hate screen typing, but I couldn't go 2 weeks w/out a phone so this forced my hand.
I initially went in thinking for sure I was getting the iPhone 5 but I figured I'd do research on some Android phones before making a decision. I liked some of the Android interface ideas but knew from friend's experiences that battery life was pretty awful, especially if you took advantage of all the widget/app bells and whistles Android had to offer. So after reading the various reviews, I realized if I was going to get an Android, it would have to be the Droid Razr Maxx HD. All the battery comparisons showed it on top by a huge margin and that really enticed me. When push came to shove once I was in the Verizon store, I decided the Droid Razr over the iPhone 5 with the caveat that I had 14 days to exchange it if I wasn't happy w/ the Android experience.
3 days in and I'm fairly positive I'm gonna stick with the droid. THIS F'N BATTERY is really mind blowing. I've had it on battery for the past 24 hours and am sitting at 50%. This includes roughly an hour of talk time along with a fair amount of app downloading and general browsing. If I talked on my iPhone for an hour I usually lost at least 20% battery, not with this beast. I actually talked for a half hour before and had the batter drop ONE PERCENT. It's to the point where I have no problem adjusting to the Android interface because this battery is such a behemoth. I can have widgets that run in the background with no real issues and I feel like I can take full advantage of the Android experience. There are some things I definitely miss about the iPhone, iMessage, the camera, general ease of use etc. but charing this thing and knowing that I can probably get 2 full days out of the battery is making it easy to adjust. I also found the typing experience on this phone to be A LOT better than iPhones. The bigger screen gives more space for the buttons and I love that I can have a custom dictionary. (Nothing more annoying than having "hell" turned into "he'll" EVERY SINGLE TIME I TYPED IT on the iPhone) I'm actually nervous that when my next upgrade cycle comes around, Motorola isn't going to have an equivalent smartphone when it comes to battery. If I ran advertising for Motorola I would just show how insane this battery is, it puts it above every other smartphone in my book for that fact alone.
I'm also glad that Google has made it easy to connect everything between my Droid, iPad and MacBook. I looooooove my MacBook and thought It'd be hard to adjust not having everything I do on here synced w/ my phone (especially the calendar), but Google made it nice and easy so no issues there.
Anyway, just wanted to share my experience. This phone is a badass.
