Hello, just a quick question. Does it make sense to get into Android OS right now with GNex. What draws me to the system is the recent update to JB and that enjoy using google services. To be frank though I use google for most of my daily browsing, traveling, even productivity tasks, I have been underwhelmed with the OS and ironically the interference of both carriers and manufacturers. Until JB.

So, is it a good time to get into an unlocked GSM Nexus and JB since they're offering for 350 online or should I wait? I have two concerns: battery life and looming next gen Nexus. I do have iPhone 5 coming in tomorrow but since I'm a tech junkie at heart I do want to try everything and draw my own conclusions. I am perfectly ok with switching sim cards back and forth. :)Thanks!

Edit: nm about sim card switching ...well I'll figure it out

For $350, theres no better way to get into stock Jelly Bean. Yes, another Nexus is probably coming, but it won't be $350 brand new. Jelly Bean runs great on the GNex and I think it'd be a good call to go for it, especially as a second device.

As far as battery life, don't expect it to be iPhone-like. In my experience (personally and reading other's accounts) you'll see about 14-16hrs total life, ~3hrs "screen on" time.

If you're wondering about the Nano SIM, there are adapters out already to get them up to the full SIM size.

Thanks! I am still exploring the options out there with the various sizes of extended battery. I def won't be needing the LTE if the wifi and 3G is decent. Maybe ill even use it solely with google voice since I have LTE hotspot and avoid the hassle of sim switching.

I'd say try it stock and go from there. Everyone uses their phone differently and gets different battery life.

Well good because the GSM model doesn't have LTE ;)

Well remember that Google Voice isn't a VOIP service, it is simply a call forwarding service. Calls made to or from your Google Voice number are routed over the regular cell network, forwarded via your carrier number, and use your voice minutes.

SIM switching is simple by design :) . It works just fine, even between an iPhone and an Android phone, if you have the proper SIM adapter to make it larger and fit the slot.
