First I know this is the Incredible forum, but people have questions about updating to 2.2 etc. And I found this struck me weird. So now the story.

My wife's phone is an HTC Eris with Android 2.1. After you update to 2.1 you have this issue called a silent call bug in which you can't hear anyone and nobody can hear you when placing a phone call. The only way to fix it is to reset the phone in which it will randomly happen to you again. So I've had her phone replaced once. (No root so couldn't roll it back to 1.5)

So I called Verizon for the second time today to replace yet another Eris due to the silent call bug. They said as of 6/15 it is a known issue in their system and is noted in the system that Google and HTC are working on a patch to push out to Eris, Moto Droid, and the Incredible? I could understand pushing an update to the Eris to replace the sound driver that isn't working but why does this involve those three phones?

Does it sound like to anyone 2.2 may be coming sooner than we thought? It sure sounds like it to me who knows, we know how creditable their information can be at times.

Maybe i'm reading your post wrong, but what does this bug have to do with 2.2 when it happens when upgrading to 2.1?

Because they will be pushing an update to the phone to fix the 2.1 bug. But instead of it coming to just the Eris to fix the bug, they are pushing an update to the Moto Droid, Incredible, and Eris.

I would assume they feel the patch would come out very quickly (also patching an Eris problem with weather widget) while Froyo maybe months away for Incredible.
