This is ridiculous Verizon!

I think the OP's point is more that other carriers are getting better phones in terms of the phones themselves, nothing about network quality. The newest phones on Verizon are only viable because of their LTE radios. Other carriers have dual core phones, phones with more RAM, etc. So from that perspective, the OP is right. Verizon tends to be behind when it comes to these things. Sprint is getting the Evo 3D this month, which blows the Thunderbolt out of the water (again, not considering network).

Verizon is a great carrier, great network. But what would make them leaps and bounds above the rest would be if they released a top of line phone on their top of the line network. Right now we are getting phones that are "good enough" put onto a bullet-fast network to make up for what they lack in other specs. All I want, and I am sure others agree, is the best phone on the market on the best network in the U.S.

And don't try to bring up the Bionic. Not only is it an unknown amount of time away, but it is also made by Moto. With HTC's recent announcement of unlocked bootloaders, a top of the line HTC phone on LTE could be the greatest thing since sliced bread, especially for those of us in the modding community. >.>

Actually his point is that he has a chip on his shoulder about verizon's lineup of handsets, and has phone envy for these other carrier's mostly as yet unreleased devices.

Anyway, his op says nothing about modding, and since those phones are unreleased just like the bionic, i think it's a fair topic.

And, i could care less about any of this, i'm just killing some time.

Though that is pure speculation, not fact.

while i do not know for certain, from the looks of things, verizon will be the best through the release of every phone you mentioned, and then some.

But the Sensation, G2x, Galaxy S2 and Infuse are already out the only one not released is the Evo 3D.

And chip on my shoulder? I'm getting the Sensation, So that comment makes no sense.

It was an indirect question. And switching carriers would be pointless as I will be getting T-Mobile. Though about your argument that that the phones I listed will be second tier in a few months. Doesn't that mean current Verizon phones will be 3rd or 4th tier in a few months?

It depends. I must say, I don't understand the dual-core 3G phones that Verizon is currently putting out. To me, 3G is more outdated than single-core. Yeah, multi-core is the future, but so is LTE and LTE is more future-proof in my personal opinion.

I mean I don't care about gaming on my phone all that much so I don't need dual-core for that. I download and stream stuff more than anything so the LTE speed is what entices me. Now of course a multi-core LTE phone is the best of both worlds because the other cores can take advantage of the LTE speed more than the current processors, but Verizon isn't to that point yet.

To me multi-core phones don't show any significant advantage over the single-core phones currently. Again, this time next year will be when Verizon can really take advantage of their network and manufacturers will probably have more optimized radio configurations and be able to produce the same type of phones that will be on the other carriers. I really believe that the newness of LTE really is the only thing that is holding back Verizon's phone specs currently.

If by this time next year Verizon doesn't have some incredible phones that rival or beat the competition, then I would be concerned, but not right now.

Multicoring does benifit us currently with Gaming, Videos, And battery efficiency.

Available in the states.

chip on your shoulder = months of negative nancy posts

I'm not negative I give a fair chance to all manufacturers and carriers. And if they aren't to what I think they should be I express my concerns. How can they get better if noone crituques them after all ya know.

@PJN:And I'm far from a troll. You should probably look up what troll means. Beacuse 90% of my posts are helpful to anyone I encounter on Android Central.

How are you getting those speeds? I live in Orlando FL (which I assume is supposed to have a solid 4G network) and the fastest dl speeds I have been able to get off of Speedtest.net app is 16.32Mbps. The highest upload speed was 22.26Mbps.Both speeds were not even on the same test run, those were just the highest scores on the results page. The phone is pretty fast, but nowhere near the speeds everyone else seems to be getting (easily).

Edit: The wrong quote popped up on this reply.. I was replying to the fella who stated 44Mbps speeds in St. Louis.

St. Louis is the 4G capital for Verizon apparently. I consistently get 20-25Mbps at work. Like I said, if I get under 20Mbps I'm disappointed.

hmm i dont understand the on ly down side of the thunderbolt is that it doesnt have a dual core cpu and thats it. it has more than enough ram and a solid video processor because i can play tegra zone games just fine. i think i would prefer the LET over dual core any day. stuff isnt going to be optimize for dual core over night it takes time(look at windows&mac programs people) and by then well even the phone you mention will be EOL so i think that makes your argument voided but i do get what youre saying its always nice to have options but verixon has the bionic thats coming soon and the DX2 which isnt on the list dont know why its a dual core.

They threw in dual core to possibly please us with a meager offering of new gen tech. And this has nothing to do with LTE so people stop bringing up LTE and so far the Droid Bionic is pulling a HTC Merge on us.

Anyway, of course the sensation looks awesome.

g2x actually doesnt look that good to me. reviews arent overwhelming either.

I haven't stopped by its forum to check in on it. But yes the Sensation looks great in my opionion.

Why no dual core phones with LTE on VZW? Simple. Because in the race to come out first with 4G LTE, they found that the dual core Tegra2 chip sets were not playing nice with the 4G LTE radios. So, HTC, LG and Samsung decided to go single core (2nd Gen Snapdragon and the always reliable Hummingbird) and also why the original Bionic was scrapped and going through a whole new redesign (from rumors that I heard, they ditched Tegra2 and went to a dual core Qualcomm chipset). Sometimes bleeding edge is not the best route.

And hey say whatever you want about INK. But his posts always draw a amazing amount of post in no time. :) Yes I toot my own horn. :p

video processor benefits gaming... if multi core benefited gaming like you said it would be impossible for me to run tegra games on my thunderbolt of galaxy s which a simple fix right? even in the pc world gaming requires more gpu horsepower than cpu hence why the second gen snapdragon has a way better gpu than the first gen

thats because they are meant to incite people, which is different from being insightful, haha get it?

Yes it does have to do with LTE. That's the whole reason those phones aren't on Verizon. Heck some people complain about the Thunderbolt being too bulky. The major reason it's bulky is because of the LTE radio. The only LTE phone that isn't bulky is the Charge and that's because of the crappy build quality.

What exactly are you trying to get at? The DX2 is dual-core, the Droid 3 is going to be dual-core, and the Bionic as well. HTC is probably currently in the process of working on their dual-core offering for Verizon and it will probably be LTE.

I said it in my first post, the LTE radio is the reason that Verizon doesn't have those phones that you mentioned.
