This is the Galaxy S5.

Re: This is the Galaxy S5

I don't know. I don't think storage usage for "regular" users is a static thing over time. Cameras like this one have more megapixels than ever, resulting in larger photo sizes, 4K video recording, and with people more and more using cameras on their phone for pics and for VIDEO, I think that "regular" people will start to push up against a storage issue over time with a phone that only has 7GB available. Maybe not in month 1, but with lots of apps, lots of videos, etc, I don't think it is too hard at all for normal folks to get to 7GB in a year or longer.

IMO, 16GB MAY be OK if the user gets actually has 10GB or 12GB usable... maybe. I don't think 16GB is enough anymore if users only get 7+ GB ...

I'll be getting the 32GB one, assuming Verizon offers it again ..

If pictures and video become an issue, microSD card slot.

. This could be a solution for us "technical" users, but I would say that most "regular" users do not use SD cards, and I would even bet most don't know the GS5 can use one.

Which could also translate to - why bother with SD cards at all..? :)

I think it's a good option for folks like us that want them. I am just saying I bet that most regular users do not use them (and therefor may run out of space). It's obviously better to have the choice.

It's not meant to be an upgrade from the Note 3. Those two devices occupy different parts of the market.

It's bigger because of dust and water resistance.

I honestly kind of like how it looks. Need to see how the camera performs in the real world, though.

Agreed. Drives me nuts when they are compared to each other as upgrades. Two different phones for two different kind of folks.

I dont know of any "avrage user" of any cellphone with a micro sd cards slot that dose not have a micro sd card in it.

And I know alot of cellphone users from average to noob to poweruser.

Even 80% or so of the noobs who have just bought their first smartphone have sd cards in them.

Note: no statistical survay actualy done just an observation and my sample is obviously flawed as being only in one geographical region and with a majority of that being on college and University campuses.

If you don't like the space limitations, don't buy it.

Dollar votes

And yes 32gb standard minimum would be nice.

Its better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it. This applies to a lot of things in my life actually!
