Anyone else see a potential boom in pixel sales now that the Note 7 is done for good? Im thinking we may see a huge increase in interest for this phone after one of, if not the biggest android manufacturers tarnished their reputation so badly.

yes I know title was butchered, still getting used to this chromebook :-

While I know that business doesn't really have feelings, I'm not a fan of immediately capitalizing on the demise of a partner's project - even though obviously someone or something is going to fill the void.

Not really, since Pixel was still new to the consumer market, plus the availability to purchase is quite limited, and there is some country which couldn't officially buy it. I would say it will help a little bit, but won't much.

Unlike Samsung which had distribution through out every corner of the earth, people are much more easier to get a Note7 than a Pixel phones. So yeah, it won't help much tho.

If they didn't agree to a Verizon store exclusive, they might just have a great opportunity. The timing is lining up for them perfectly. Typical customers though in the US buy their phones by walking into a carrier store. Verizon is the only one in the US that they can do that. I know some people buy online, some walk into Best Buy, but MOST just walk into carrier stores in the US, that's the way it is.

Still, (particularly since Google is starting to really advertise the Pixel heavily) I think the N7 recalls will help sales somewhat, though much less than it would have helped if three was no in-store carrier exclusive ...

One million phones suddenly need to be replaced in the us alone... That's why I'm in this forum, if they ramped up production so people who have a ticking clock to switch could order then I think they'd get a mighty decent bump. Same price and hopefully a premium upgrade.

Unless they sell it internationally and sell cheaper, or wait for most of the carrier at other countries to provide contact to let customer obtain it.
If they do it, the Pixel would get better sales.

Yes, this is a opportunity for Google to make a move to shake up Samsung and Apple. Advertisement will be a key factor..

There is no doubt there is upside for Google. I am coming from the N7, and based on the conversation over there, I am not alone.

Unlocked from Google, available in-store at Best Buy and Verizon.

Missing an in-store presence at AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile.

Sure the Pixel has a chance but I don't think it'll do as well as some tech pundits are expecting.

That and Google flat-out said they're not planning on having this device knock it out of the park for sales. They're basically using it too build a relationship with the carriers and their vendors while getting a little bit more exposure in the public eye.

Let's be honest.

Most people will use these phones as their Note 7 replacement:

Galaxy S7/Galaxy S7 edge
iPhone 7/iPhone 7 Plus
Previous Note (4, 5)

My daughter had ordered a N7 just before it all started to blow up (pardon the pun). Cancelled the order to see what happened with the replacements. Fast forward to now and she is bummed. Really wanted the N7. So now the Pixel is a contender for her although she's not happy about no SD slot and no physical home button. That said she's also considering the V20 and 7 Edge. So this definitely impacted the phone she'll be getting.

I can see a couple of camps that would now be interested in the Pixel coming from the note 7

Group A - the group that just likes bigger phones and thus the note was their first choice (and know its an android device). This might be a bit smaller but likely the best alternate and its essentially the same price at carriers (I should mention that Im in canada so all of our big three carriers are selling this device)

Group B the enthusiast that wants the newest hardware - this is an easy move for them.

The group that doesnt? the people that just want a samsung device (and a fair amount of them don't know its an android device just that its a samsung) They will be getting the 7 or 7 edge

But this is all opinion on my part.
guessing it will be small bump but still, a bump

well google is not going to advertise it that way but its a good opportunity for the pixel to get some sales from Note owners.
from looking at Note 7 comments i am seeing people buying Pixel but its still not going to sell in millions.

agree but lets not pretend that people wont buy this at all. even a 5000 sales from Note 7 users is a sale.

not to mention the vacuum samsung has created on all future Note sales
