This is why I like HTC phones

Stock android on the Nexus S (a single core phone) is faster than the Evo 3D on Sense 3.0 (a dual-core phone) in some app loading tests.

Yeah thats what I admitted too.. Its a little faster with stock android.. But Im one of those that could care less about something opening .2 seconds faster... I like looks and functionality.. Being able to tag someone in a fb picture or the social integration... Nice widgets, Better unlock screen that is more useful.. Those are the things I care about more then an app opening a tiny bit faster..

Im hoping android gets more of a visual overhaul.. Like screen rotation animations and stuff like that.. It would help android look alot less clunky..

HTC does make a good handset and a great UI to go with it. I've always liked the espresso Rosie over the shipped launcher.

Though I prefer Vanilla, Sense gets my choice of OEM UI's.

I so agree with you. I also like the polished look of sence 3.0. the easy way to use facebook, have a list of people/favorites in photo icons, and let's not forget the weather animations. having 3 or 4 web pages open is pure eye candy with this phone when you want to choose what page you want.

but what jonrando doesn't realise is that the nexus s 4g is far from future proof. with only 512mb of RAM, it could have problems getting an OTA update to ICS like a few phones that are already unable to upgrade to GB by OTA. this means that with the NS4G you might have to run down to the sprint store to get an upgrade by tech suport or DLing it to your computer first...no micro SD card upgrade as it doesn't even have a slot for it. on top of all this, ICS might just make the NS4G slower then it is today because it will have a larger footprint and take up more RAM to run...something that again, the NS4G is limited in.

now I'm not saying that the NS4G is a bad phone. but is the posable future limitations that worth it, even for plain jane android lovers? is that .1 or .2 of a second advantage in some apps still worth it? and let's not also forget that the tests were at stock, right out of the box...so once you start adding animated widgets or other things to make it your own, it will get a drop slower (maybe that .1 or .2 advantage will be lost in the end).

just some thoughts from a rookie android user.

Well said, warpdrive. You are an Android rookie?! From your posts you seem very knowledgeable!

thank you CarrieK.

yes, this is my first android phone. I came from a blackberry curve, and before that, a super dumb phone. but I'm a tech junky. I've built my own computers since 1988.
now I also have tons of friends that have iphones and androids, and sometimes they let me play with them. so when it was time to get rid of that silly BB curve, I hit up tons of review sites and forums and have learned a lot from this site.

but to get back on topic of what I said...
when I read things like this HTC Desire Finally Gets Gingerbread, But You Won't Want It | TechnoBuffalo
it scares me to death. let's face it, would you update your desire to GB if you no longer will have sms? and you know that the number one reason for no OTA update is because of a lack of RAM.

but this isn't the only phone as of late that is not getting an OTA update to GB. again, all because of lack of RAM.

now I also know that many of you out there don't like OEM UI and will root to get rid of them. you mostly buy a phone for it's hardware and not for the eye candy. but for me, a new user of android, I may as well go for not only hardware but for one of the best UI you can find on a phone. to me, hTc's sence 3.0 is the best out there and is so polished that everyone who looked at my phone wants one.
only one person felt the 3D hurt their eyes, but even he said that he would buy the phone because he loves the UI and all the eye candy from the animations and ease of use.
when showing off my phone to another friend, he said that I knew a lot about how to use my phone regardless that I only had it for two hours and my travel time to see him was an hour...so that proves that even a rookie can pick up this phone and use it's basic functions almost right away.

so in the end, this is another reason I love hTc and their new EVO3D. :D

Great post!! Because of people like you and Carrie it makes my decision to get the E3D even more enjoyable. :D
