This new battery life is UNACCEPTABLE.

I just got my MAXX last week, and I am averaging at least 16 hours a day (6-8am til 11pm-midnight) of casual use (a little gaming, web, facebook), and I usually still have 20% at this point.

Even if that sounds "unacceptable for a 3300Mah battery", to me if a phone can stay off the charger from the time I roll out of bed til the time I roll back into bed, that's a good smartphone.

Right on!!! I mean really. The Maxx's battery does not compare to anything out there right now. With my Rezound by noon I was plugging it in to recharge. What a joke. Even with the extended but ugly battery I would have to charge half way through the day. And thats with moderate use.

I came from Galaxy Nexus, battery life seems quite good to me. Only down 30% after 13 hours is pretty good for me. View attachment 32922
Screen shows a little more than 2 hours.

I did an experiment yesterday. After a full charge at 100%, and not being on facebook all day, :o I got 18 hours out of my maxx, with 10% left at 11:00 pm. I have done several drain and recharge with phone off and factory reset. I'm happy with the battery.

Here is my battery so far today. Screen has been off most of the time. Haven't used it much at all (just some light Facebooking and web browsing). And the screen display is set on power saver. Less than 6 hours off the charger and hardly any use - sucked up 60%

I'm gonna spend the night trying some recommendations. Doing something like factory reset is just such a pain though. That will be last resort.

BTW, the last two nights, I ran the phone down to about 15%, and fully charged it while the phone was completely off.

I just wiped the cache. I'm gonna try and do 2-3 more charges while the phone is turned off. Hopefully that'll fix it!

Just curious, how long have you had ICS, in terms of time as well as charge cycles?

Also, are you often in an area with poor or borderline mobile signal? The battery can actually run down faster if the phone is constantly searching for a signal. There's a room where I work that has zero reception, and if I've been hanging out there for a few hours, I notice my battery has drained more than usual.

I'm happy with my Max. On most days I could probably get well over 24 hours out of my phone. Yesterday I took my phone off the charger ~ 8:00am and @ 11:30pm I had 68% left. Today I took it off the charger @ 6:00am and now at 10:11pm I'm at 53%.

I would consider myself a moderate user.

I grabbed ICS pretty shortly after the first (Razr Maxx) people reported getting it. In fact, I remember having it for a day or so before others reported seeing it available. So what was that - a few weeks ago?

In terms of signal, I live between Baltimore and DC. I have pretty steady LTE most of the time. I don't think it's that though, because before I loaded ICS, I was getting at least 24 hours on each charge - in the same geographic location I'm in now. I leave my phone connected to my house's wifi when I am home, and I've always done that.

Basically, nothing has changed except updating from GB to ICS :/

I've done three nights of a full charge with the phone turned off. And last night, I did that cache wipe thing. Much better results today! Still not as good as it was (pre ICS), but hopefully it'll continue getting better

Thanks for the help!

usage and signal, the two most important and constantly changing variable. each day will not produce the exact same results. that is just a fact of life :( weather can effect GPS lock on status, the building you're in can effect signal. weddings/breakups/news can effect how much you use Facebook.... what was your total screen on time? check it again tomorrow and your screen on time will be different, as will your battery.

As indicated on an earlier post, here is the screenshot I finally took of my battery life. This is running ICS and completely on 4G with minimal to moderate use.

If you hardly use it then obviously it'll last a lot longer. Below is a below average use day for me...although my screen was on for almost 3 hours.

So you're around the Ft. Meade area (was stationed there in the late 90s). I'd imagine they have pretty good signal there (unless you work where I worked).

Yup, I'm in Howard County - not far from Ft Meade.

So I cleared the cache and factory rest my phone. Also been charging the phone while it's turned off. The battery has been getting much better!

My battery life is amazing matching or surpassing what it was with GB. I wouldn't consider myself to be a heavy user, but I always have well over 6 hours of screen time when I hit 30% and thats usually after 42 - 44 hours. This is the last time I checked it a few hours ago. View attachment 34101View attachment 34102

It doesn't help those with battery problems but it's obvious that not all phones were affected. I've been one of the lucky ones too. Below status with 3.5 hours of screen time and and average calls-time. Almost all the up-time is while on wifi.

Is that 1day with wifi mostly or 4g or 3g?

Here is my most recent usage, 28 percent at almost 16 hours with 4h30m of screen time, with about 1.5-2 hrs of netflix. Not as good as when I first got it, but at least it lasts me all day?
