Ok before you declare me as another "Samsung agent" or , let me tell you i had this since end of May and first couple of months was great but now, for the last month or two, this phone's camera became HORRIBLE. And i dont mean "well in comparison to SG4 or iPhone", i mean it as it is so bad that im actually considering selling this phone and buying something else because this camera is a total piece of garbage.
Let's see some examples:
HDR
imag1552.jpg

What the hells is that "flare" around the umbrella? it looks like some house in distance is on fire...

how about some casual event photos
imag1642.jpg

Nop, totally useless photo because it cant focus for distance larger than 1 meter. Great.

Now lets see what happens when you try to take a photo of a park. Totally steady hands, focus on a tree in the background
imag1644.jpg

oh would you look at this. Out of focus and blurry.

and another one distance shot
imag1741.jpg

crap, yet again no focus and blurry as hell

so i tried another one with different settings
imag1743.jpg

nop, still crap.

and for grand finale, HDR photo
imag1747.jpg

just look at it, it's like the chimney has some saint glare around it.
And thats not even all, but i think you see where i'm going with it.

now compare all this photos to this photo from my first couple of days with it

so for no good reason this phone started making crappy photos that i cant even post on facebook or instagram unless they're taken with a macro mode because that is the only mode that still takes normal picutres, all the res are pure garbage.

And yes, i do know how to take pictures with a phone, i do use multiple settings and try to get a good results but seriously, my iPhone 4 from 2010 has MUCH MUCH better camera than this phone. 3 years old phone has a better camera than this one, makes you wonder.

Sorry to hear that... I do not have those issues with my phone, so maybe you have a defective phone.

I have simply had a different experience with the camera on this phone...it has consistently taken good pictures for me. Now granted...Im not trying to print these photos out and put 'em in a frame or anything...but as far as a quick point-and-shoot that I have with me at all times...it does a good job.

THE worst camera EVER?!?!? Come on now....

Sounds to me like you should be filing a warranty claim. That is definitely not normal and I can't imagine them no warrantying the phone for that.

After using the One heavily for the last month, I think the camera is a definite step down from the iPhone 5 I had previously. Image quality and the number of unusable images is definitely higher. That said, I do love the extra features like Zoes, Highlights, and the live gallery. So pros and cons.

Worst camera ever? You clearly never used the one on my old BB Curve. Or the one on my Samsung Transform Ultra.

i really believe there is something wrong with your device....take it in to your local carrier store and have them check it out or call warranty dept of your carrier.

The camera on your One is most likely experiencing some variation of the auto-focus bud that's been discussed at length here. You should look into getting your phone replaced as that isn't normal behavior.

Palm Centro anyone? Lol. There are much worse phone cameras out there.

Get yourself a Gnex or Nexus 4.

However, it appears you may have developed a hardware issue. Sucks man.

Like others have said, I agree that it sounds like a hardware issue or potentially even slight damage to your lens. Here are a few pics I've taken with my HTC One and, although not perfect by any means, they came out pretty well I think.

My phone takes pretty good shots. I would say as good as my one x does and better than my Nexus 4 did.

Edited: I apologize to anyone who I might have offended by quoting the OP. I wasn't directing the term used at anyone and regret my decision to repeat it in my post.
