Why 10,000 steps a day, there is not one shred of medical information stating 10,000 steps a day will benefit anyone. Well, it is true there are many jobs where workers during their daily activities will exceed 10,000 steps a day, it does not make it for everyone.

Question, do you know where the 10,000 steps originated? So how did the 10,000 steps come about? The idea of walking 10,000 steps a day comes from a marketing campaign launched ahead of the 1964 Tokyo Olympics by a Japanese company named Yamasa Toki. They introduced their new step-counter, which they called Manpo-Kei, meaning “10,000 steps meter” and marketed their device with the slogan, “Let’s walk 10,000 steps a day”

Now, you may want to reevaluate your step count. As for me, my normal everyday activities produce 4,000-6,000 steps a day. When I cut the lawn, of course it is more, however I do not obsess reaching the false medical magic number of 10,000 steps. Oh, I do not jog, nobody is chasing me why jog, and I have not seen joggers smiling, thus it does not seem fun. Also, all the old folks I know were joggers now have many issues with their feet, ankles, knees, hips, back, and neck. Nah, jogging is not for me, however a brisk walk is doable.
