Those of you with ICS...whatcha think?

Wish I knew about the keyboard selection change before upgrading! What a pain. I switch between Swype and SwiftKey, but maybe it's not a big deal for most users.

I also dislike the way the contact photos are now displayed.

Lastly, the ICS color scheme makes it impossible for me to read some of the icons in the notification area. I had not problem reading them in GB. I see no way of making them larger.

+1 on all these cons.

What's up with e-mail? Do I really have to delete everything and start over? Gmail has a widget and that's working but I can't get yahoo (junk, but important) or corporate to work. Thanks for letting me know I'm not alone on this....

When I installed there I had a screen pop up for each email account including active sync. Each was to accept new security settings as I recall. It was 2am and I was falling asleep but wanted to get everything going first.

We can change keyboards from an app. I found it while exploring. When you have a text entry field open in any app, if you pull the notification bar down it gives you the option to quick change keyboards. I'm still seeing more problems. My WeatherBug Elite app, even after an uninstall and reinstall is barely finding a data signal and is constantly throwing No Data errors. The WiFi indicator on the top bar is terribly erratic and often drops down to to the bottom tick even though the network settings show an "excellent" connection, and I'm sitting two feet away from my WiFi router. Truthfully, if I could go back to GB for awhile I probably would until some of these problems are resolved by Motorola, Google, Verizon or whoever.

I noticed a similar issue with my AccuWeather. Wasn't able to get the radar working and I saw the very same Wi-Fi icon problem. Every post I see screams Factory reset and hope it some of these little kwerks get worked out.

I've had several widgets that I downloaded that would not appear under Widgets unless I turned the device off and back on again, or did a reboot.

By the way, make sure you save the bookmark to the account that you want. The default is your Google account, which means it'll be synced with your desktop Chrome. If you just want it on your phone, make sure you select "local" as the Account.

Thank you. I'll give that a try.

I'm really liking ICS on the Maxx it seems so much better then it did on my G/N so I did have experience coming from the G/N it will take time to get use to everything. Battery seems just as good if not a little better at 20 hours and still at 60%. Also seems a little quicker and smoother.

Experiencing some lag in my address book. Sometimes I would see a blank slate for 3-5 seconds before the contact's info would appear. Doesn't happen all the time, but it's happening quite a bit. I also have a lot of contacts too.

Have you gone to settings, apps, all apps, and gone to email and exchange services and cleared data. For the heck of it I would clear huxemailengine. There is also my accounts that you could clear data on.

If I didn't want to do a partition cache wipe and or factory reset, these are some things I would try.

Hey everyone. I switched from the Rezound to the Maxx on Friday. ICS came OTA on Saturday! I'm hardly a techie person - to me, it just seems like a redesigned OS. Pretty nice though.

I'm thrilled with the Maxx! I switched solely because of the battery, and it's not disappointing me :)

I saw a comment on Google Play about the constant data errors with WeatherBug but until ICS installed on my Maxx yesterday I had never had a problem with it. It's been my "go to" weather app for a long time and now it's almost useless. One other thing that I've noticed is what seems to be a change when the Auto setting is used in display brightness. I've always used that and, even in relatively dark settings the screen was plenty bright. Now it looks more subdued in a room at night. When I first looked at the Nexus, one of things that bothered me was that, on Auto, the display didn't seem very vibrant. Once you set the level manually, it was better. Could this be an "ICS thing"?

I'm noticing a problem with smart actions.

I have it set to kill data on screen off, never had problems before the update getting data to come back on. Now I'm having trouble with data reconnecting when I wake the phone up.
Battery seems to have taken a hit too.

Just cleared partition cache will see if that helps, if not will try a reset.

I don't care what kind of phone you use, that's not how I judge someone's worth or intelligence. Sent using tapatalk 2.

No real complaints other than battery. I miss done of the shortcuts from before. Smart actions seem to work better after a few resets, already the location based ones. Oh, and this...

Here are my first impressions if ICS. I had it on my Nexus so am familiar with it. The key fixes it provided my Maxx was:

1. Much improved Bluetooth music streaming and Bluetooth carkit call quality.
2. Better Gmail experience.
3. Better font and UI visual experience.
4. Faster browsing.
5. Quicker boot up time.
6. Improved camera function.
7. Better widget and home screen organization with folders and app management.
8. No drop in battery life or signal strength.
9. Better alternative launcher options, NOVA and APEX.
10. Better multitasking with ICS recent apps UI.

Cons of ICS on he MAXX:

1. Terrible keyboard implementation compared the the Galaxy NEXUS and Gongerbread version. Hopefully Motorola will provide a quick update to fix the lag.
2. Loss of 3G only option in settings.
3. Lack of onscreen buttons creates more presses to complete functions.
4. Some apps not playing nice with ICS.
5. Didn't improve car dock software.

I am talking about the stock ICS keyboard. I am comparing it to the stock keyboard on the Galaxy Nexus. It seems very laggy and not as smooth. I have several third party keyboards as options to use, but really liked the ICS keyboard on the Nexus. I really liked how the GB keyboard worked on the Maxx before this update and was hoping for the same ICS keyboard experience on my Maxx.

After sending a message to the WeatherBug folks about the problems that it was having since the ICS push, for laughs and giggles, I took another crack at unistalling and reinstalling it. It now seems to be connecting and working normally both on 3/4G and WiFi as well as on my Fancy Widgets clock/weather home screen widget. Very strange!

When in a message you will see a keyboard icon in your notification bar. You can click and change your keyboard with ease..
