Those of you with ICS...whatcha think?

So far a very mixed bag. I can longer press down in a app that uses text to change keyboards. It has to be done from the settings menus. The GPS icon longer shows up in the top bar. ...All of my old pictures in the contact list enlarged too much and distorted. I had to reassign them but the actual contact screen does not seem to scale the pictures like the old ones did. The pictures appear at the top in an elongated window and only part them appear and they are still distorted and fuzzy. Not exactly an improvement.

Wish I knew about the keyboard selection change before upgrading! What a pain. I switch between Swype and SwiftKey, but maybe it's not a big deal for most users.

I also dislike the way the contact photos are now displayed.

Lastly, the ICS color scheme makes it impossible for me to read some of the icons in the notification area. I had not problem reading them in GB. I see no way of making them larger.

Got it this am on Razr Maxx, like it, camera seems better, like tabbed browsing (tho was really OK with the "windows"); have one issue with email. I use 3 accounts. Only gmail is working. Can't get yahoo or corporate to work at all. Tried new widgets, that's how I got gmail to work - very nice! Any ideas? Thanks

Same here. My Comcast e-mail account keeps throwing connection and security certicate errors at me.

Have you guys tried a partition cache wipe? I know it sucks if you haven't done this yet but sometimes while doing a partition cache wipe it helps doing a factory reset after a major update like this.

I solved my Comcast problem by changing its security setting to "accept all" (the last one). The native e-mail app does not seem to have a trash folder anymore. I'm seeing a lot of things that were very good and efficient in Gingerbread that have been completely disregarded by ICS and I'm not very happy about it. ICS seems much less intuitive.

so far battery has been running down pretty quick even tho im not playing around with it much, i expect after a few cycles and everything gets settled it will be stellar again. Also signal bars are showing 1 and 2 , when on gb it was usually 4 or 5. Have gotten a few text notification sounds and green light flashing but nothing is there, only way to get rid of it was to turn phone off and back on

We can change keyboards from an app. I found it while exploring. When you have a text entry field open in any app, if you pull the notification bar down it gives you the option to quick change keyboards. I'm still seeing more problems. My WeatherBug Elite app, even after an uninstall and reinstall is barely finding a data signal and is constantly throwing No Data errors. The WiFi indicator on the top bar is terribly erratic and often drops down to to the bottom tick even though the network settings show an "excellent" connection, and I'm sitting two feet away from my WiFi router. Truthfully, if I could go back to GB for awhile I probably would until some of these problems are resolved by Motorola, Google, Verizon or whoever.

In the native email app at the top open your inbox then open all folders and the trashcan folder is at the bottom.

There are a lot of changes to ICS over GB. And I feel most are improved and like any other update like this there will be a learning curve to it. Be patient, the more you use it the better it will get for ya.

Thank you good sir for the inbox tip. Could you imagine mucking you way through a new OS if sites like these didn't exist? Yikes! I see some nice things in ICS but GB just seemed more efficient in the customizing arena. And now Jellybean is on the way. Hoo Boy:eek:

I think jellybean will come quick to help straighten out some quirks with ICS. I also think Google is trying to simply android to straighten out fragmentation some (less buggy) and more reliable or stable by changing or adding different features.
I'm looking forward to jellybean!

I like that I can now create or edit a contact in my address book, go to another app, come back to that contact using the multi-task button, and it will be right where I left off.

I found it by accident too and was coming back to let people know and saw your post telling them the same thing. Thanks. Wished I had seen it earlier. There's a lot of stuff "hidden" in ICS. Wished there was a more manual somewhere. This have to hunt to find stuff on the device or online in forums is kind of a waste of time.

Edit: Right after posting this I found a manual online for the Razr/Razr Maxx: https://motorola-global-portal.cust...ilename/RAZR_Maxx_UG_Vzw_ICS_68017139001A.pdf

I haven't yet reviewed it except to verify that it's for ICS. Maybe it will help answer some questions.

Edit #2: OK, so this was already posted in another thread. I didn't see it before posting my link. Apologies, but will leave it so others don't have to go elsewhere to find it.

Is there any way to organize your bookmarks in the stock browser, or are you stuck with the order in which they were added? I've been using Dolphin HD for a while, mainly for the quickness of accessing bookmarks but I figured I would give the stock browser a chance with the use of the quick controls.

In the stock browser, first save a website as a bookmark. Then, on the Bookmarks page, long press that bookmark, select Edit bookmark. Touch where it says "Add to", and choose "Other folder." You can then create a new folder. You can then move other bookmarks into this or other folders by Editing them.

By the way, make sure you save the bookmark to the account that you want. The default is your Google account, which means it'll be synced with your desktop Chrome. If you just want it on your phone, make sure you select "local" as the Account.

I reloaded my Go Launcher and Keyboard to speed up some issues I was having which has helped a little but the battery life is not where it was so far. I think on Monday I'm going to save all my pics and data to my pc and perform a factory reset so the new OS can start from scratch. Was wondering if I'd get a second rollout after the soak testing? That's what I was kind of waiting for.

What's up with e-mail? Do I really have to delete everything and start over? Gmail has a widget and that's working but I can't get yahoo (junk, but important) or corporate to work. Thanks for letting me know I'm not alone on this....
