Thought this was funny and interesting.

It's true though that most of my friends don't know their phones can do that, or for that matter, most of the things their phone can do. Just like my iOS toting friends never realized that there was a Google Search app or that Google Now was available for their device.

Um, he said that his coworkers had a Droid DNA and S4 respectively, which last time I checked, were not Nexus devices. So what you said is incorrect. I share things between my two devices that have NFC. I also use it whenever I see it at a gas station or store or restaurant that has it. I think the only reason no one uses it is that there aren't enough places that allow you to use it.

Unless you have a nexus, or are on sprint, you can't use the biggest feature of NFC which is tap to pay. I was referring to that with my comment.
My point is still true though. Its almost useless unless you have a nexus.

Who said Wallet is the biggest feature? I've used the Beam feature of NFC (which works on any NFC phone) several times (and in real-life scenarios, not just as a demo).

Is Wallet not available for non Nexus devices? I know carriers block it, but it still works on my Nexus with side-loaded APK. Would that not be the case on a DNA, for example?

Nope. Its blocked by Google. Even if you installed it, it wouldn't allow you to actually use it.

NFC is ******* useless. No one here uses it,in fact people use passbook more then Google wallet here

Actually I disagree with that article, it's use is on the rise. I mean sure if you are worried about privacy I could see it as an issue. I mean it would be pretty easy to build a device that intercepts the waves put off by exchanging information between the two devices.

Besides apple probably does care, they aren't stupid, they are probably working on a version of their own that they will patent, then use to sue and bash every other device manufacturer that uses it.

Calm your Apple hate down. airdrop is there take on it and its better then NFC.

I'd rather use airdrops functionality if it didn't matter what kind of device you use... But you can't really pay at point of sale, etc. without real NFC. Having the option is good, even if adoption isn't up to speed yet.

And airdrop doesn't seem to work for nearly as many things that can be transferred. They are almost complimentary products, not competitors.

Its almost like saying a bicycle is better than a car... Which is true if you aren't going very far or fast and are restricted to using bike trails. But if you have an hour to get 50 miles... Your car can carry your bike... Which is better is heavily dependent on, "for what?"

Transmitted through spacetime.

By that,I meant in my country. not in this thread.

I doubt the validity of that statement. I'm having trouble believing that none of the 4.4 million people in your country use NFC. No one you personally know may use NFC, but there are lots out there that do.
