Thought this was funny and interesting.

You know, I think the iPhone brand is starting to get old. They need to make something new, smartphone-wise that is. They need to come up with a new brand.

Of course. Apple hasnt announced a new iPhone yet. wait till Q3 then the iPhone sales skyrocket.
It doesn't matter. Apple had always been on top. For a single Android retailer to overcome Apple at anytime is serious competition. The iPhone 5 is the only option, so the lack of a new device should make little difference at this point. It is different at the end of a cycle when they are releasing a totally different phone like the iPhone 6, but not at this point in the year. Samsung and Android are stealing market share by the bucket load. Second and third generation smart phone users are more educated now and are expecting more control. The late adopters to the smartphone market is still very active so Apple is still selling well to that segment, but seasoned buyers are moving on to the latest and greatest. Apple doesn't hold the status of elitism it once held. People now recognize the S4 as the bar that things are measured by and in marketing that can be a wave that can turn the tide so fast it will make a successful company's head spin.

IOS 7 will be part 1 of the future of Apple. It sounds like there will be a power toggle widget added which is a long overdue feature. But there may still need to be more to hold down their dominance.

HTC also did an amazing thing with the release of the One. Not only did they build a beautiful phone that appeals to iPhone owners, they also signed a deal with Apple so they won't get sued. 5 million phones have sold in the first quarter which is also no small feat.

We will see how it all pans out.

I'm pretty torn on the Google apps on Microsoft thing. On Wp7 Google was pretty clear that they weren't going to make apps for that system and that if Microsoft wanted their users to have access, they needed to upgrade their browser to the latest webkit technology and then they could use maps, gmail, youtube, etc. and get the same experience we get on desktop... which is pretty awesome. It's not as good as having a dedicated app because of notifications, etc... but at that point MS was just like, "oh they have Bing, no biggie, Bing is better!"

Now they're reaping the benefits of having a terrible browser that ignores the latest tech and telling the company that pretty much owns the internet to bugger off.... Could Google gain some awesome points by going in and helping them? Sure, but ... why? MS acts like a child and if I were Google, I wouldn't be too concerned about 1.5% of the market.

The biggest kicker? MS has already told it's customers that it's going to stop supporting WP8 in 2014. Why would Google develop an app for a platform that'll be replaced next year? That's terribad.

Google and Page pushed "interoperability" at I/O, yet won't help support the clear number three smartphone platform. I call bull**** on Page.

If it's about number of users, Google should just say so.

But they do support it in that these services are available on the web to everyone. The one downside on YouTube is that some content isn't supposed to be available on Mobile; I'm not sure if they work in Chrome desktop mode or not. According to this Mobile operating system - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Microsoft is the 5th largest platform, although it is the fastest growing, it's also going to be a legacy platform next year, replaced by whatever MS does next. At current pace by 2016 Windows Phones is expected to rise to 3rd place behind iOS, but that'll be a different OS than WP8.

This is one the arguments that it's easy to see both sides of it... for windows, would having a dedicated App built by Google with quality like the iOS/Android versions be awesome? Yep! For Google, is it a waste of time to spend any resources doing that? Yep!

You say this as only iOS people are switching to Android. In my (so far) short life I have seen more Android to iOS then iOS to android.

Exact opposite for me. Explains why Android market share is increasing much more quickly than iOS market share.

I have never seen a person go from Android to iOS EXCEPT for when it was their company switching them to get everyone on the same protocols, etc. The last place I worked did this as a somewhat optional thing... they'd buy the phone and pay for the service, but they get to pick the phone or you could keep what you have, but they get access to the device to install their security stuff, etc. and you had to bring it in monthly to re-certify.

I went from android to ios and back to android ;-)

Doubt it. It's most likely because there are so many **** low end devices that are so damn cheap.Only tech savvy people(generally) get Android phones.

Apple has managed to be so successful because of their brainwashing policies. As Henry Ford once said "You can have any color you like as long as it's black."

it's the same mantra with apple, all they offer is the iPhone. But thanks to their genius marketing techniques they've managed to brainwash half the nation into buying a phone that only receives marginal updates every year but somehow manages to cost $500+ for half baked software and low range hardware.

Oh btw I don't think a dual core chipset based off the A15 ARM architecture and the 1GB of RAM being faster then most Android phones, is low end.
I also don't know who a screen with a pixel density of 326 is low end. I ALSO don't know how the first bluetooth 4 and one of the best built. phones is low end.

Again, use an iPhone for a week THEN judge. Your post comes off as blind hate, something I did with the S4 before trying it.

I would suggest not judging me when you don't know me, I didn't post out of hate. I have owned iPhones from 2 to 4s. I got sick of all the hardware updates that really didn't do anything and a stale os that hasn't changed much since it's inception.

That's why it's not worth going there. They take everything so personally there.

I'm pretty surprised their moderator was liking and supporting the person who called Chetan a troll.

Regardless the iPhone is not low end and I love mine. These people are not brainwashed the iPhone does everything they need it to do, why do people feel like "converting" people is a good thing?

It's been quite a while since I've had to post in this thread. I'd prefer to keep it that way.

A reminder to please keep the discussion civil. Thanks.
