Thought this was funny and interesting.

a lot of people don't even know their phone can do it

A lot do.

Example: Samsung phones sold a lot largely because of their marketing. A lot of their commercials showcased NFC (heck, even Nokia's commercial showcased it ? as an Android/Samsung feature). Millions of people are aware of NFC.

Personally I've never used it other than to experiment with transferring a file from my old Samsung GS2 to a friends Galaxy Nexus. It worked. I've thought of trying the tags too but I haven't seen any form of payment option in Canada. I do think there are still many possibilities to be explored. Whether or not it takes off completely only time will tell. I don't like that different manufacturers are fragmenting the concept though. Many noobies don't understand the difference between NFC or S Beam or Airdrop so it just adds confusion. People are overwhelmed already, why complicate it.

I doubt the validity of that statement. I'm having trouble believing that none of the 4.4 million people in your country use NFC. No one you personally know may use NFC, but there are lots out there that do.

Umm WE DONT HAVE ANY BUSINESS OR BANK THAT USES NFC.I know my country far better then you OK? I know no one uses NFC

Deep breaths...

Okay.

Just because you know no one or know of no place that uses NFC does not mean it isn't used. I'm not sure what your country is like, and to be quite frank, I do not care. However, to assume that your country has absolutely 0% NFC use is improbable and impossible.

People may use NFC tags, something I did not think about.
Apologies for my outburst.

There was a lot of discussion about that chart on my G+ feed. Apparently it's believed to be one day of data based on web activity, but I've read the original report here: BlackBerry Gaining Share In Key Markets As Market Awaits Q1 Results - Seeking Alpha and I don't see any mention of methodology, etc. so I'm not clear on where they got that from. The author is definitely pro-blackberry, in that he's excited for the news, but doesn't seem to be making information up; although as he's a writer and not the creator of the reports, it is of course possible that he stumbled upon the charts and misinterpreted them. At this point its close to impossible to know if it's correct or not.

That's what I was thinking too. Seems to be a stretch even with large corporations buying in. I only know a couple of people with them. If they had taken this much market share they would be every where. Although there are probably a few legacies devices that could be contributing to the overall numbers.

Really doubt this as true.

It isn't, really, because of things like ISIS and proprietary implementations of it like S Beam. Perhaps once ISIS finally launches it will see much more widespread use, but until then it will still be niche.

You really need to tone down your anti-apple crap. It undermines any legitimate points you might have.

The same goes for your constant worshipping of them.

This forum tends to be US-centric because MURRCA.

Android must be more popular. More people own Android devices.

That's exactly the problem. Most of those Android devices suck compared to the ones we all normally discuss. Then again, compared to mainstream 2005 devices they're amazing super computers with magical elves powering them... but the argument that, "It sold a lot" has very little to do with quality unless pricing, availability and advertising, among other things, are all equal. And even THAT one assumes an informed consumer base, which we know is a fallacy.
