Thoughts after the Samsung S7 keynote?

This is clearly one of the SILLIEST things I've ever seen written on this site. I'm willing to bet you couldn't tell the difference in a blind test of two screens under 6", one with 2k and one with 4k. I'm almost even willing to bet you couldn't tell the difference between 1080 and the others too.
what's so silly about it? Have you seen how gorgeous 4k looks when photos when people are doing zoom ins with their z5 premium ?

can I tell the difference on a small device? Nope and neither can a lot of other people but 4k is the future and gives people who love dual window note space to work with

So next time instead of acting like a know it all, maybe start thinking

Does it bother any of you that the S7 camera won't support native 16:9 "widescreen" photos? It's kickin' my ****. Why? That makes no sense at all to me. What could be the logic behind that move? I hear Samsung went with 3:2 ratio, like an iPhone?

Kinda a shame as I've grown to love the 16:9 photos. However, it can still do 9MP 16:9 shots which is decent enough in my opinion. I think it's totally worth the trade off in exchange for that amazing low light performance with this new sensor.

I guess I missed the 9MP/16:9 option. Well, at least that's one choice. From what I've read, all 16:9 options were removed. Thank you.

Athoug they could havchanged the design a little
I rather they do what they did which was refine the design, fixing the biggest flaws with the S6 design (camera hump, sharp edges) whilst focusing all that R&D money on the internals instead.

The similar design is the reason why they could invest so heavily in areas such as the camera, performance, water resistance etc.

Nothing you said justifies your opinion. You do realize that when you're zooming in on a photo, you are still at the same screen resolution, and the doesn't change resolution, you're just zooming in on it. The pixel density remains the same, and it still remains indiscernible to the human eye compared to 2k. 4k is NOT the future on displays smaller than 6 inches. It's a pointless marketing gimmick all started by LG to make their phones stand out, now everyone had to follow suit at the expense of battery life and material cost. I'm willing to bet the TV in your living room that is 10x the size of your phone is still at 1920x1080.

If I'm not mistaken, don't most lenses have a native 3:2 aspect ratio for photos and 16:9 just crops them to make them look wide?

it's my opinion so why the hell should I have to justify to do you? Especially since you don't even understand the difference of basic image stuff

Yes, 4K is the future, that's why all these phones can now take 4K video. So when you play back on a larger screen or want to edit/crop the video, the resolution helps a lot. There is absolutely no reason to have a 4K screen on a 5.1" phone because there is no scenario where you can tell the difference. I've had a few 720p screens on phones that looked amazing and past that, there is no discernible difference.

And no, I don't know a single person with a Z5 premium, not even anyone with a Sony phone lol.

I tried the Z5 Premium and the regular Z5 for a while. Honestly, the difference isn't even noticeable, even when you squint to the point where your eyes lose focus.

It's a solid device if you forget all about the 4K nonsense, but IMHO, it's not worth the extra premium over the Z5 unless you want a larger display.

I have tried going back to Android for a while but always ended going back to iOS. Last year I thought the S6 would be the phone that finally got me to switch. I did give it an honest try but the poor battery life and smaller screen (I had been using the iPhone 6 plus for a while) made the move too difficult. Now with the S7 edge having a huge battery, same screen size, and being water resistant plus having an always on display (2 features I've wanted from Apple for a long time), I think this will be the phone that gets me back to Android for good.

I pre-ordered from BestBuy and can't wait for the 11th to be here. Apple makes great phones and anyone who says otherwise is not telling the truth. But the closed system and recent lull in quality jailbreak apps and roll outs has got me bored with the iPhone. I want more options and Google has me fully engaged in their apps and offering. It also helps the Samsung phones are so similar to an iPhone experience. Add this all up and I plan on being team Android going forward.

I'm sure the zoomed in pictures did look gorgeous. But they'd probably look JUST as gorgeous on a 1080, or even 720 screen. 4K in general is the future, and it makes sense to have content available in that resolution - that's why, like somebody said, any sensible camera will shoot in 4K. But for viewing on a SMALL screen, you just won't see the difference. Next time you see somebody with a 4K phone, ask them to send you one of their photos, and look at it on your phone. See if you can spot the difference.
