Thoughts after using Bionic plus pictures

I'd like to think Motorola tweaked the screen on the Bionic to make the pixels less noticeable. Without seeing it in person it's hard to say. I can't wait to get my hands on one. Even if the screen ends up sucking big time, at least I won't have to live with the suspense.

I'm with u on that. I really want this phone. Have we gotten an update on the battery life? That's number one issue for me

Why does everyone keep talking about this phones as if it's so revolutionary? It's nothing special. The design is hideous, as is the packaging. I don't understand why Verizon keeps trying to market the Droid phones to SiFi nerds with no sense of taste. It's basically a glorified Droid X2 with LTE, a front facing camera, and just as ugly design.

Careful bro - this is a forum for kissing the Bionic's ass. I almost kicked out last night for saying how disappointing the quadrant scores for the Bionic were.

Crazy.

All I'm going to say is this, It's the best phone I've seen and used since android has become big. This includes over the galaxy s2, evo and evo 3d, x2, thunderbolt and more. Everything is just smooth and the browsing experience is unreal and this was just on 3g. The phone for its size is very light and I'm here to say that the battery life is by far a very big positive. I like where Motorola is going with design, especially the chrome around the edges. I use to like htc's design, but lately their bulky, heavy and let's face it.. Their battery life stinks.

Finally, Verizon has the phone we all have been waiting for.

The final benchmark numbers mean nothing to me either but looking at the frame rate during the benchmarks can be an indication of how the phone will perform under load. There is a video on droidforums of the bionic doing a quadrant benchmark and the frame rates results can be worrisome. It only averaged between 20 and 30 fps and one area it hovered around 14fps with dips as low as 11fps.

Yeah for a phone so hyped up it is a bit disappointing.

Oh wait - sorry, someone is reading this post who will kick me out for speaking the truth.

Nevermind - the Bionic is the best.

Are you TRYING to get kicked? Why not keep the smartypants remarks to a zero and stop trying to cause turmoil with little jabs here 'n there. Thats two in your last 2 posts.

Truth be told, it's disappointing. The GSII and Atrix score better BrowserMark scores. We keep saying how irrelevant these scores are, yet sites like this one keep posting info about benchmarks.

Numbers don't lie. I understand there may not have been anything else to compare it to side-by-side, but don't compare it to the Nexus One. That's a joke.

You know very well i'm not talking about your GS2 talk, i'm talking about your jabs at members (and potentially moderators if you were warned) by the comments quoted above.

It's not GSII talk - it's a frustrated Motorola\VZW customer talking. If you put something up on a pedestal then we all should expect it to be the best.

Numbers don't lie, yet when you make a simple comparison people get all touchy. I never said the Bionic won't be a great phone, it's going to be the best Android VZW ever released, probably best phone VZW released to this point, period.

But we should get the word out back to Moto and VZW when\if we're disappointed, that's what this is all about. We can all just sit here and love everything they throw at us - we should tell them when they f*** up, lesson learned for the next one.

All we do is use benchmarks and comparisons yet when it doesn't score the best then everyone says the scores are irrelevant. I can go back and scrub each Android fan site and count the benchmarks posts, it's what we all do.

In the bworley50's Quadrant run posted on YouTube, one of the tests only runs at about 12fps. That clearly has something to do with a driver or maybe quadrant itself. I'm talking about the test where the planet spins. There is no way it runs at only 12fps. Even my Thunderbolt runs at 60fps there. Shows how useless Quadrant is.

Even if you are frustrated with Motorola and Verizon, it doesn't mean that you have to make snarky remarks about a** kissing the Bionic and commenting about getting kicked out. Keep it respectful, don't come in just to bash the people that do care about the phone.

Hey guys maybe this is a dumb question but is there any real reason to buy a new car charger for the Bionic when I already have one from my OG Droid and another one from my Razr 2? Both are obviously mico-USB.

Verizon sales people always try to get you to get another one.

If it's not broken, don't fix it.

Nah. I would see no reason to go for it. I have the Droid X and I still use my Blackberry charger as a backup! As long as it's micro-usb, you're good to go. My husband has even used his Nook charger (micro usb as well) as a charger for his phone :D Save the extra bucks and put them toward a nice case or something!

As an accountant I'm gonna have to disagree with you. Number can be anything you want them to be if you know how to use them.
The reason benchmarks keep getting posted is because people who are easily impressed keep requesting that sort of thing. Unfortunately a lot of people don't take the time to educate themselves and just keep asking for benchmarks because they see others asking for benchmarks. But like it's been mentioned time and time again, these benchmarks really mean nothing. People should wait until they get the phone in their hands and see how it performs, but since we all have to wait, people just keep asking for benchmarks. Hopefully soon people will realize how little these benchmarks have to do with real world performance.

AnandTech - Motorola Droid 3 Review - Third Time's a Charm

I realize one link was from early this year and the Exynos might have updated drivers or whatever...

One link shows the OMAP 4 in the Droid 3, with its 512MB ram and all. And the GS2 isnt on the Droid 3 link.

Did you see anyone really posting these before I did? I think at this point with all these dual core phones...benchmarks are just for pissing contests.

And like someone mentioned above...the Thunderbolt doing better with FPS than the Bionic? I think my Droid X did better on that planet part of the the Quadrant tests.
