Thoughts on the Incredible from an iPhone user

I thought Apple was doing whatever they can to stop people from jailbreaking their phones and having some success (locking out of AppStore, no updates, etc.).

I like iPhones, but prefer the inherent openness and customizability of Androids. That was the determining factor for me, and would still be even if the iPhone were on Verizon. The app disparity is quickly becoming less of an issue.

Agreed. A lot of my friends are telling me that they're waiting for the iPhone to come out on Verizon. I tell them two things: One, you have no idea when that will be, if ever; and two, the Incredible really is a better and more flexible phone anyway - there's hardly anything, if anything, that the iPhone can do better than the Incredible, IMO. I have friends with iPhones and I used to have an iPod Touch, so I'm very familiar with what it's capable of.

I like the iPhone. For me, however, I really can't stand Apple as a company, and loathe Steve Jobs. It's not a hardware or software issue. I couldn't leave the openness of Android to have a Tyrant tell me how to use MY device. It is a nice device IMO, but it goes deeper than that for me. I don't want to be told what I can or cannot do with my personal property that much. It's like buying a nice wide screen TV, but Sony(or whoever) only allows PBS and Fox News to be brodcast to it. No thanks. It's Android's Open approach for me(not to mention I really like the form and functionality of it as well!).

You know, I don't want to drag this into a negative direction; however, I have to say that I agree with you in a lot of ways. I laughed my butt off when Jon Stuart ripped Apple "on camera 3" (if you watch the show, you know what that means) for Apple's imperialistic ways -- just hilarious. He nailed AT&T, too.

Anyway, I was considering a new signature earlier today:
"Apple is like the Oakland Raiders -- it's them against the rest of the world."

Still considering it, really. lol.
