Since Google dropped the ball with the December update do you think that the first update of 2022 will be handled better?

I doubt they could do much worse lol, so the only direction should be up ;)

Hopefully I get the Jan update. I'm still sitting on Nov. I think what's really annoying is just Google hasn't said anything about it. Admit to your mistake, say you are working on it, and go from there. That would go a long way with your users. Radio silence just makes Google look incompetent.

Well, I'm not going to hold my breath.

Can't wait to see what new bugs it brings and what features it breaks though!

I'm giving them one last month of screwing stuff up lol. February seems like a good month to me, especially since it's my birthday month lmao..

lol leaving because of an update. Just leave

It's not that. There are many issues that need to be fixed. If you want to give Google a pass for releasing a half baked device I guess go for it..

These things happen. Google is certainly not the only company that has had to pull updates -- Samsung and OnePlus come to mind.

I'm just being patient. Tech stuff is hard.;)

FYI, please try not to make this thread go off the rails. Keep things cool. Thanks folks!

Unless something spectacular happens with the Pixel 6 in 2022 Google has assured I'll never buy another Google ANYTHING!
I refuse to be a beta tester for Google or anyone else for free, they got me this time.. never again Google!

Tech is hard for the creator, not the buyer.
That's what Alfa & Beta testing is for!
Would you accept tech. this buggy in your car, airplane etc?
Google is USING us as their beta testers and charging us for the privilege.

BS!!!

If there is no update next week or the week after good bye pixel.

Updates and stock Android are the only reasons to be buying a Pixel phone.
So far with the Pixel 6 series Google has only delivered 50% of they're part of the deal making us that bought half baked devices UNPAID beta testers.
Uncool!

Actually, recalls happen a fair amount for cars. And Windows PCs are constantly getting patches. Would you consider that beta testing?

I realize it's frustrating. I'm just saying that it happens throughout the industry and in other industries as well.

its funny because unless you are having issues with your phone and NEED the update to fix it.....what are you missing out on the updates being late?
My 6 Pro has been rock solid on the Nov update. No issue for me so far. I can wait and be patient for them to get things right.

To answer your question, security updates are more important than ever.

I agree security updates are very important. So which security exploit in the December patch do you need on your phone?
What security patch in that update are you missing?

Same here. Nov update on Pixel 6 and I've had no issues whatsoever. I have no problem waiting for google to come up with any fixes of issues found in the Dec update. People were fine with the bi monthly updates from oneplus, yet cry a river when a rare google update with major bugs, and an update gets postponed for a little while.

I am upset about it because it is the number 1 reason (by a long margin) I bought the phone -- and Pixel 4xl and Pixel 2 and Nexus 5x. My "bargain" with google was I buy less than optimal hardware in trade for timely software updates and the latest/greatest Android. Do I need the update today? No. Am I selling the phone? Not yet. But after having to sideload the November update to get on the correct update track and December's debacle, it is the beginning of a trend. I'll see how January goes and then reevaluate the "value" of this phone.

And Google's non-communication of the update issues is another problem.
