Thoughts on the January update?

I have updated my Pixel 5 and my Other Half’s 5a without incident, and I will likely do my Pixel 6 when it all gets sorted out.

In the meantime I am neither gnashing my teeth, nor am I rending my garments.

I will let you know if my world wide November build gets the update with Verizon sim. This is the last gasp before I sell the phone and go to Samsung.

Since Google delisted the Dec update I'm curious as to what effect if any those of us who installed it if it'll have any effect on us getting the January update?

Samsung is now better at software updates than Google, let that sink in

A glitch in one month's security update does not make a pattern. Also, keep in mind that Google continues to update its budget "a" line monthly as well, while Samsung only guarantees monthly updates for its flagships.

But Samsung got the December update put to it's flasghip devices, how weird...

See my response above. Also, we get it. That's snarky and funny.;) But we're not going to go down that route for this thread, thank you.

Two months.

So far.

And I was getting spoilt by Samsung for their timely updates to my Galaxy note 10 plus lol 😂🤣😂 that's 34 and still counting srry to sound like a freak

Two. Those of us on a google purchased/verizon network 6 had to sideload the November update to get on the correct update path. Two strikes... I hope they can at least get on base with January.

Well keep in mind that many pixel users have reported issues with their P6/P6 pro especially with connectivity/network and they have to wait till the end of January for a fix. This is the company that makes the operating system. Samsung who uses the same operating system as google has done a better job rolling out the updates to its flagship devices, that was my point.

Your point is made. This seems to be an issue with the Pixel 6. Google has rolled out January to every other Pixel that is has not reached end of life, so they're back on track with all of their other phones. Hopefully they will correct the issues with the 6 line -- I wonder if this is just the growing pains of the new Tensor chip.

It's great that Samsung has stepped up their update reliability. Too bad other companies are still far behind.

It clearly is an issue with the pixel 6 as the other pixels got the update. It's just unfortunate that people have to wait till the end of January to get their issues fixed. Last successful update for the pixel 6 was a couple of months ago.

Yeah, I'm not losing any sleep over it. It'll come.:)

Neither am I although I really need them to improve this fingerprint sensor. I know it'll never be as good as the competition but if it can improve that'll be great.

I'm eagerly awaiting the January update as the December update made my reception really bad, where it was so intermittent that it was unusable. I had to roll back to the November update, so I'm really hoping the January update fixes a lot of issues, but mostly the reception issue.

I'm disappointed Google didn't release a fix for the reception issues separately and instead are waiting for a late January patch to bundle it in with the other fixes.

Fingers crossed that update was actually tested and reception works properly. If not the. I'll just sell the phone and go back to Samsung with the S22 Ultra or something. No way am I going to put up with a phone with bad reception for another month or two.

People seem so angry. My Pixel 6 Pro has been solid on December update. No issues with connectivity. I get chrome freezing sometimes but that is no biggie. In truth I have never had issues with my phones. My 2xl from 2017 preorder is still running fine after very hard use over those 4 years. My 4a 5G was great and my son loves it. The 4xl my husband uses has had one issue and needed a full factory reset but is otherwise great. He has to manually enable the microphone every time we use duo, but it is now just a routine. Bugs happen but in the end no phone is perfect and no technology is without issues. My Hive hub for my thermostat is constantly needing rebooting but I need it so I tolerate it. We just need more patience.
