Thoughts on the January update?

its funny because unless you are having issues with your phone and NEED the update to fix it.....what are you missing out on the updates being late?
My 6 Pro has been rock solid on the Nov update. No issue for me so far. I can wait and be patient for them to get things right.
Same here. Nov update on Pixel 6 and I've had no issues whatsoever. I have no problem waiting for google to come up with any fixes of issues found in the Dec update. People were fine with the bi monthly updates from oneplus, yet cry a river when a rare google update with major bugs, and an update gets postponed for a little while.
I agree with you both.

Google doesn't deserve a pass on this. The main reason to get a pixel is timely updates, and the latest Android features. Which they failed miserably on in Dec. Their lack of transparency about the issues just makes them look incompetent, or worse arrogant.

My 6pro is holding up ok, however I'm dealing with a bunch of UI glitches which would have been fixed with the feature drop. If they can't even deliver on the main reasons to get a pixel, why should we trust them with anything else? This has been the buggiest phone they have launched in a long time. Cool you guys be patient with a multi-trillion dollar company who uses us a beta testers because it's easier I guess....

I guess this is why it's nice that there's a pretty wide range of choices for Android manufacturers -- if this is such a distressing situation for anyone, there are plenty of other options.

If your having issues you can roll back to October build I believe until they fix this with Andriod flash tool.

I agree security updates are very important. So which security exploit in the December patch do you need on your phone?
What security patch in that update are you missing?
That is such an odd question.

I'm on Nov build. The UI glitches aren't necessarily deal breakers, but it makes using the phone at times infuriating. It's a shame Google can't expedite a fix to these software issues. Their best is "late Jan", and that's kind of sad.

How so? You insinuate you were missing important security updates from Google on your Pixel 6. So what are you missing?
So which one are you missing that would have been patched if the security updates was on time?

How is it not a odd question? Do you know what the point of the security patches are? I do as I deal with them on a wide range of systems. My preference is to keep all of my systems and devices current to minimize risk as much as possible.

I would agree that security updates are important, but there certainly wasn't any indication that there was a crucial security fix for December.

And please, keep this discussion cool. Don't make me close the thread.:-\

If updates are a high priority this is not really true (unless some other manufacturer has stepped up their game recently). It is (was? I hope not) one of google's killer features for me. Really, only Apple seems comparable to the timeliness of google. Is someone else doing it well now?

I was on November build also , I sideload December to see if I would experience some of the issues which I didn't luckily otherwise I would went back to November lol ..probably I could say battery life took a little hit on December build.

This one not towards you only for all of us

We know Google been great with updates every month thats why lot of us buy pixels and other reasons, this is not going be the norm from them , they found connections bug and others that develop so im not putting them under the bus for this , I want them fix those issues and give what December was supposed to be in the new update as well January , if this becomes a pattern(which I highly doubt) then it will raise a eyebrow and questions. Samsung had issues rolling andriod 12 our which made them pause it then resume so this stuff happens.

Samsung has been doing significantly better than they used to, at least for their flagships. OnePlus is still pretty good, although they've been having some issues with Android 12, from what I understand.

My thoughts on the Jan update? Well my phone works fine and the Jan update (Which I have not needed or received yet) has not caused any issues....:D:D
