thoughts on the V20?

That makes no sense. I'm standing with the industry standard. Can you explain? Do you mean average consumers with no industry knowledge? Could they be less relevant? The people who know better matter in areas of objective measurements.

Even if the vast majority still thought that the earth is flat, they'd still be wrong and their opinions would have no bearing on the facts.
What I said makes perfect sense. People prefer an oversaturated display that "pops" over a display that isn't oversaturated and doesn't "pop". Industry standards and industry knowledge has no relevance. Nobody says that one display looks the best because the numbers say so. Samsung displays didn't get popular due to their color accuracy.

I've probably watched over 10 videos on the LG G20. Only one mentioned that the screen looked good, the Phonearena video said "this panel in particular doesn't seem to shine with any extraordinary type of glow", and the others didn't mention the main display at all, which I think they avoided talking about for a reason.
Again... Videos don't make sense in this conversation. Now you're inventing conspiracies? Come on... If you're going to just say "nuhuh" to all the facts and state things that are demonstrably false, it'll be impossible to take you seriously. Are you being serious or just trying to rain crap on the launch and get a rise out of people? Do you actually believe what you're saying? If so, PLEASE take some time to research and wait for credible data. If not, you may want to reconsider that as a long term position. Either way the current course isn't good.

It isn't a conspiracy theory. It's an observation. When a phone has a great display, people will say so. Watch some similar videos of Samsung devices.

Yet Samsung is the global leader on accurately calibrated AMOLED displays. Preference is completely irrelevant if the preference is for an inferior product. No matter how many people enjoy being wrong, they cannot sum up to being correct.

A few things about the display.

It's only 2 hours 40 minutes since the phone was official, and it will take some time to get some reviews in, so please don't judge the display from videos and whatnot. You have to see it in person in order to make a clear opinion.

Another thing. If this phone is aimed at content creators, a more color-accurate display would be beneficial.

They may be now, but they weren't accurate for years. Not to mention that people still talk about the extra pop that comes from oversaturation in Samsung displays or from images Samsung cameras take.

That depends on the individual's priorities. Personally, I have no real use for a high end screen. It's not a feature that I would utilize enough to be a deal breaker. Does this make me wrong to not demand a feature that I feel is unnecessary?

I don't think I do have to see it in person. I also don't understand why LG went with a content creation theme with this phone. It seems like they put a lot of effort into audio controls for recorded videos that will almost never be used and the wide angle lens for the main camera doesn't seem useful since it chops the megapixels in half and the picture quality doesn't seem to be as good. I feel like LG doesn't really understand what most people want in a phone.

This. I see it all the time from new photographers just learning about display differences.

"My photo looked great on my computer, but looks like crap on my phone."

I even know of one photographer that edits specifically for poorly calibrated screens and phones because it's what his clients mostly view them on. He makes his photos look technically worse so they look pleasing on inaccurately colored screens.

Not saying LCD is better than a properly calibrated monitor, but they are preferable in a phone compared to AMOLED if you're looking for color accuracy.

LG stands alone

LG is the only manufacturer who is delivering this deep a camera experience in a phone and I love them for it. They care about the things I care about and I can't wait to shoot some video and stills with the V20.

Also if the video quality and stabilization is improved this should really round out the experience for me. You get a phone like this to make videos like the one I made completely on my V10.

There's nothing wrong with not being a connoisseur of anything. There's nothing wrong with liking one thing more than another. There is something wrong with positing that opinion to be more accurate objectively than actual facts.

The fact that you don't need or care about or even want the best display available does not have any impact on which display is actually the best or how that determination would be made by those who do care and maintain the accuracy of their measurements.

Re: LG stands alone

The video has worked very well for me and I have hand tremors. Still going to have to pass. The new design is rather repulsive...

Okay, thanks for clarifying that. I don't try and take that approach for that very same reason. I am more than open to change, as long as I feel that it makes sense. Not something that I have been experiencing much recently with Android

Re: Looks like a great device

Overall, the design changes are horrible.

Actually I think the design is pretty awesome. While the overall styling of the phone is pretty standard, I like the all metal body and that it retains the same durability of the V10. Would liked to have the steel side rails because I think that's what set the phone apart from other LG devices and all devices in general. It gave the phone a pretty unique look. But still I quite like the new design.

I'm feeling indifferent. This will change once I see some reviews, and most importantly get my hands on one.

The all metal design means that I can't hold it without a vice grip. The colors are absurd and I would have to physically correct the worst change and remove the side buttons.
