Three dropped calls with S7; never dropped calls on Note 2.

What do you mean by "wireless"?

What's wrong with 50+mbps?

Not sure I get your question, so please clarify if not. By wireless (which might not have been the best term since overly broad - sorry), I was referring to wifi calling - i.e., making calls via a wifi network, vs. over LTE/4G. In my home anyway, it turns out wifi calling generally outperforms LTE/4G.

50+ mbps is great actually - I was noting in my EDIT that even with this decent download speed, my wifi calling this morning somehow wasn't performing at the same level as last night when I tested with the Verizon rep, with a comparable wifi download speed.

Does this makes sense?

50mbps... one who lives out in the country with horses and cows for meighbors can only dream of such download speeds. HughesNet Satellite tops out at 10 Mbps unless I want to pay about $100 a month for the privilege and it that I think it tops out at about 20 Mbps. BTW I love my neighbor's! 😁

Hope the new SIM card helps. Glad you got a little bit of increased improvement with the AC reset. I never thought about asking the other person what the connection sounded like on their end. The hour-long conversation I had with my sister was good on her end but I haven't asked anybody else... no one has complained.

Haha - I think horses and cows win over speed downloads. :-)

I have found that the signal issues appear to play out worse for the person on the other end. On most extended (>30 min) calls, at some point the other person suddenly can't hear me when I can hear them perfectly fine. I don't think it's ever happened in the other direction, so I don't know if this offers any clues to the root problem.

I haven't used the phone for any extended calls on cellular since the reset (have been using wifi calling) but will report back if I learn anything new.

I had this same problem and was monitoring this thread. I finally got a solution. Have verizon check to see if you have a Ringback Tone on your line. For some reason that is not compatible with the new phones and is causing the problem. Once they remove that, power cycle and you're good. I didn't even realize I had a ring back tone I had not used it since like 2005. Hope this helps everyone!

The problem with turning off Advanced Calling is that I think it then disables simultaneous voice/data. Seems things shouldn't be this hard?!

Just tested it. Much to my surprise there is no data when advanced calling is off and we don't have a wifi connection during a call.

Below is why this is now the case (and why you need Advanced Calling to have voice/data).

Do you guys see this as something that will be fixed in (hopefully soon) updates to the OS or firmware? My calls are so much more clear without AC enabled and honestly, I make a lot more phone calls than I do call/surf combinations...like hardly ever, but, it's a nice feature to have when you want or need it.

This cannot be fixed by a software update.

If you are unable to use Voice & Data on a call this could be a CDMA limitation.
GSM Carriers (AT&T / T-Mobile) – Both can use voice and data at the same. Either on HSPA or on LTE (using VoLTE).
CDMA Carriers (Sprint / Verizon) – These carriers can only handle voice or data (not both at the same time) unless using VoLTE. Verizon currently has VoLTE whereas Sprint doesn’t. You may be asking – why is this? My old phone did this! Which I am sure it did but it won't anymore. A more detailed explanation is below.
[INFO]The older phones had two CDMA radios put in them (such as the S3 on Sprint). One dedicated to voice -- another dedicated to data. Therefore you could do voice and data. GSM has always been one radio because that one radio can do both tasks at the same time. They got around it on CDMA by simply adding another radio in there and dedicating each one to one task.
Now they're getting rid of that second CDMA radio. So therefore you can only use talk, or data -- not both at the same time. Now if you're using VoLTE for your calls it will allow voice and data since the call will be going through LTE (as data) so it is technically then all data which would bypass this restriction.[/INFO]

I am on my 3rd s7 edge and have been battling with Verizon to let me switch to a different phone. I drop nearly every incoming call 30-40 seconds in and have tried everything from turning off advanced calling to switching to 4g from global to a new Sim card and nothing helps. I've even deleted all my apps. I'm thinking the s7 edge is just garbage if you want to use it as a phone. Someone help before I drop Verizon just to get a different phone.

"garbage" isn't very useful when discussing signal strength. How many dBm difference have you seen between the S7 and the Lumia? I get roughly a 10 dBm difference between my Note 2 and the S7. In over 3 years, I never dropped a call. Wish I could say that for the S7.

Well you can if you turn off VoLTE right? With VoLTE off the S7 should be using the same old technology as the Note 2 for calls.

I haven't recently dropped any calls. Go figure, since I haven't changed any settings

The reception is usually 103 to 105 db vs 95 db on Note 2. ANyone else getting dropped calls on your S7? My wife's S7 has nearly identical reception of 103+. This is a big problem when on a business call. Singal strength show 3 bars on the status bar, btw. I have had the note 2 for over 3-1/2 years. I make LOTS of long calls. Many over a half hour each. That phone has been used in the same location as the S7. Sure seems like a phone issue, but with 3 bars of strength showing I'm perplexed why it should be a signal issue despite the fact the db is 10 worse on the S7.,

Googling shows very few online complaints about the S7 re dropped calls.

Re: Three droxpped calls with S7; never dropped calls on Note 2.

I am having the same problem with my S7 Edge. I am a longtime Verizon customer and my previous phone never dropped calls but my new S7 Edge is consistently dropping calls

I had the same problem with S6, never had issues with any other phone. After research found out it's the all metal build, and the placement of the antenna is different. My issues were mainly indoors, anywhere, would have to be outdoors to get fair to good reception.
This was a deal breaker for me, so as much as I liked the phone, I sold it. A shame because I love the new Galaxy S7 line.

Same problem. My edge 7 is dropping quite a few calls. I am driving for lyft and get notifications that I am no longer reachable. I lose the mapping that I need. My passengers with iPhones have no problems. This is creating a problem.

I just turned my advanced calling off too. I have already turned in one phone thinking it was the phone. I have only had it two weeks today. I love it for everything else, but I need my phone to be a phone. I never get 4G service at the house and it is spotty throughout this area. So I am guessing the switch from 4 to 3 g is problem. I hope this works!

When I look at the dBm on my phone, it has a - in front of it. Does this mean the number is negative? Thanks for the help.
