Hi,

Can anyone with an unlocked BTU Note 9 confirm that Volte and WiFi calling work with a three sim?

They have their unlimited everything for £20 on atm and I am tempted.

Cheers,

Cheers,

I am thinking of getting the unlocked Note 9 asap.

I can add that just today I upgraded my Three sim only plan to unlimited data for 19 pounds a month and that is with 30gb hotspot and Netflix Apple Music binging for free.

I hope that helps to some extent.

Will update once I get the device.

I have ordered one to try.

Spoke with them on live chat.
Unlimited everything for £17.

There is no tethering limit anymore, EU ruling that you can do what you want with your data. Shame my signal is nearly non existent at home or I could use a 4g router and ditch the expensive fibre. ( can get the unlimited days sim with only 200 minutes for £12 - I need the minutes)

Will try side by side with my EE sim in my 960fd and see how it gets on. If no dice I will cancel and return.

Let's see how you get on

Good luck 👍

That's the plan I'm on and it's hard to beat. Three has been the one and only network I've used that's better than EE (for me). I had my reservations before going to them but the voice and data coverage and speed has been 2nd to none. They also quietly rolled out 4G+ a few months back and 50-60gb download and 10-15gb upload is easily achievable

Is that 50Mbps mate?
( get c300 max with EE in Edinburgh, which is very handy when I have to download an iso for work)

Will see how it goes side by side with the EE sim next week. Get zero signal in my house so who ever I am with doesn't matter there other than having WiFi calling.

Yeah sorry 50Mbps 🤦*♂️. You'll defo get WiFi calling and pretty sure about VoLTE too. I'm still with Huawei for now and they incorporate it differently to the rest

I can confirm they do. Did also work with my previous unlocked S8+.

Brilliant, thanks.

Weird as I had a 3UK sim in my old S8+ for a bit and had to flash the Fw to get WiFi calling.
Also had to flash EE Fw for my Note 8 wifi calling.

Note 9 worked out the box, so looks like things have finally moved on.

Thanks again for replying.

Hows the WhhhhaWAaay going mate?

Been a great all rounder tbh. First phone I've ever kept for a full year and not made me want to switch after years of chopping and changing every 3-4 months. BUT I'm due an upgrade in March coinciding perfectly with the S10+ release so it's an inevitable switch lol.

Yeah, it's been a great all rounder tbh and the first time I've ever kept a phone a full year after chopping and changing every 3-4 months for years. Due an upgrade in March though which just happens to coincide perfectly with the S10+ release so it's an inevitable switch back to Samsung soon lol.

Great stuff. Been the same with the note 9 for me. Its just worked and done everything flawless. Weird not buying 4 or 5 or 6 devices in a year though. Can see me keeping this until the note 10 comes.

Having your contact upgrade in March is dangerous .

You've got everything you want or need in the Note 9 to keep you satisfied which is always a good thing.

What's more dangerous is I have another account also due an upgrade but in September when the next round of flagships get released. I thought about just just getting something cheap like the Huawei Mate 20 Pro or Pixel 3xl with that mahoosive notch to see me through til the Note 10. It's gonna be a beast for sure.

Cancelled the sim. Tested it today.

Significantly poorer signal and speed over a 130 mile / 6 stop test. Including one looking at the masts. ( max speed of 50meg v 255 on EE)

Wifi calling worked but Volte does not, other than with 3 supplied handsets.

Still think £20 for unlimited data is a good deal. But not worth it for me.

I'm on EE, have been for years. i recently upgraded my wife with 3 and I'm so impressed. I'll definitely be leaving EE at the end of my contract. she gets signal literally everywhere, unlimited data, roaming and Netflix. all for about £23? I pay just under £50 on ee for 5gb of data. I also struggle a lot with signal strength. we were in a hotel recently and i couldn't even send a WhatsApp message. she was streaming Netflix.

Yeah, if i could get a decent signal and speed on three it would have been a good deal.

I pay £16 for 40gb Max plan on EE. Speeds in the city max out at about 300meg. Speeds abroad have been great for me. ( three seem to get stuck on 3g especially in the states)

As above travelled a big wedge of the country yesterday with both sims in and the three sim just couldn't compete. This is a fairly typical day for me.

On a side note, if you are paying £23, get onto the chat and get it lowered to the advertised £20 unlimited at the most. I managed to get them down to £17 on the phone.
