Throttled on Straight Talk at the 1.2gb?

I was really happy with the straight talk so far for my first trial month, but being throttled at 1.2 GB is pretty ridiculous. And throttled to 0.24?!? I'm using the at&t sim, started on Nov 18 and today Dec 13, and just this evening I cannot get past 0.24 mbps. Do you think going to the tmobile sim would be different? This is pretty upsetting with several days left on the month.

Yeah it is their terms that they will do that to you. My understanding is that tmo does it as well

I don't think 1.2gb in 25 days is excessive or abusive. My most used data is the browser at the 154mb. Does that seem unreasonable?

No I don't at all but they apparently do. I do agree it is nuts for it to be that low, but they have limited network resources.

They throttled me starting that day as well. I was over 3gb though. LOL

My cycle started Nov. 21.

I called them and they deny throttling me.

I called them and played dumb and said my internet is all of a sudden really slow. He said he'll look at it and I was told to restart and it was back to normal.

What sucks, say if you buy the 3 month or 6 month prepaid card, they won't unthrottle it until the end of the service cycle. I got throttle back in November and on their support forum, they pm'd me saying I hate to wait until January since I bought a 3 month card.

I think what was funny was that they denied throttling me, yet told me that once my new billing cycle started, my speeds would go back to normal. Really?? I asked them how they knew that if they weren't responsible for my slower speeds. No response. I had to laugh. I hung up, sold my N4 and am just keeping with Verizon and unlimited data for as long as I can.

So it went back to normal speeds after you restarted? So maybe it was your phone, and the not network after all? How has your service been this month...assuming you are still with them?

I thought ST would always just shut you off and not slow you down. Currently I have att and thinking ST might be a better deal for me. Might be switching here soon.

They can but usually from what I understand they throttle you for a few month then dump you, and take the money. It is non refundable when it happens

I do not think that they can under the portability act unless the bill is unpaid, but I very well could be wrong

Of course they can. When an account is closed with any carrier, the number is reassigned into the general pool, regardless of why the account was closed.
