Thunderbolt Battery Complaints + Tips/Tricks

Yes. By default, the App is set to automatically update content in the background.
How can this be true if I can restarted my phone about 5 times now to try and air out the kinks and NEVER turned on that pos Blockbuster app and it has never shown up on my Task manager app or phones running applications ever?

I received my phone yesterday via FedEx and here are my battery thoughts so far:

I had the phone on the charger most of the day, and around 7:30 I took it off. Went out with a friend for a bit and used it minimally. Got home and was playing with the phone (downloading apps, watching youtube videos, a little Angry Birds, etc) nonstop for about 1.5-2.0 hours. I went to bed around midnight (so off the charger for about 4.5 hours) and I was at 70% battery.

I came from an Overclocked (to 800mhz) Palm Pre Plus, and my battery would have definitely been less than 70% after all of that. So...I am quite happy with the battery.

I am in a 3G area only, so I am sure that is making a big difference.

I also occasionally run "Advanced Task Killer" to shutdown crap running in the background.

This is my 1st Android phone (my Palm Pre Plus being my 1st smartphone) and I have to say I am LOVING it!!!

That's great to hear, except the second to last part. Do NOT use task killers for Android 2.2+
:)
your battery would've lasted longer without it. All it does is restart the apps, download watchdog task manager

probably a dumb question. how do you turn it off? Do you do it within the app? I don't even want to open it lol :P

Is anyone having an issue with the battery widget from htc and the battery icon on the notification bar displaying a different amount of green in the icon itself? This could be nothing but just wondering if anyone has paid attention to this.

Yeah but I think that's just the way the icons are partitioned. The battery widget is just more partitioned.

i might have to return this one...

I don't know...I am willing to give it a few more days, but I am disgusted. Yesterday I woke up with full charge, went to work. We are not even supposed to pull our phones out at work, so I used it very little, sneaking into the bathroom and such...by 1pm I was down to 15% (my brightness was set to 25%, did have friend stream going, most of the apps that came with the phone as is) I had my charging cable with me, so I plugged it up. charged for 2-3 hours, then by the time I got home, around 8, I was back down to nothing. if fact, It nearly died on me just after eating dinner when I got a call. Read some info on here, made some recommended adjustments, turned brightness down to 20%, killed blockbuster app, deleted any widgets inc friend stream, turned off animations, and live wallpaper, adjusted the updates to minimal ones. gps off, and bump charged last night about 6-8 times. left on charge the entire night, I know it did not continue to charge, but woke this am and it was at 100% it has been off charge since 8:17. It is now 8:42 and it is down to 91% and I have done NOTHING except check notifications for battery life (using battery indicator dl from the market).

and I have noticed when I wake the phone up, and unlock, cloud move across the screen even though I have turned all animations off. I don't know if this could be one of the culprits, but I don't know how to turn it off.

someone, please advise...

i'm just sick over this.

ETA: today my battery started out not too good as you can see from my post, but I went out for a little while and then got back home and it was like 40-50% I plugged it in and let it charge for a little while, but not to full (about an hour I guess) and it seemed to charge much faster. it was like 85% when I took it off. Since then, I have been playing with the phone off/on maybe plugging it in for a few minutes at a time, and now at 12:15 am I am still at 40%. I am a happy camper right now :)

Oh ok. Figured it wasn't that big of a deal. I will wait for root and hopefully one of those shows the % in the icon on the notification bar.

It sounds like something may be wrong. I was at 95% when I woke up and I've been on here using tapatalk for almost an hour and I'm still at 89%.

I am trying to see if I want to jump on the band wagon and pick up the Thunderbolt. The question I have......Is the standard battery this the same battery that is in the Incredible. If so there has to be the ability to swap it out for the Siedo 1750 extended battery that I purchased for my Incr.

Anyone know?

I went from DInc to TBolt. They are not the same.

I was really discouraged by battery life yesterday. I was only getting about 4 hours per charge with very minimal use and most options turned off. Did bump charge process last night and then let in on charger while I slept. I took my TB off of charge at 6:50 am and have been playing words with friends and angry birds as well as web surfing since. My battery is currently sitting at 83%. The bump charge seems to help a lot. Plus I am mostly on WiFi today. I am sure that is a contributing factor as well.

My phone has been unplugged for 4.5 hours and I'm only down to 97% battery with no use at all. (I woke up, unplugged it and left it on the night table). I'm in a 4G area (NJ). I also want to note that the phone is in a case and the display is off when in the case.

I just checked the usage:

Display 28%
Cell standby: 26%
phone idle 24%
wifi 13%
android system 5%
android os 2%
etc etc

What does this say to me? It says that it's the display that is eating the battery. Not wifi, not 4g, not a runaway app. I also uninstalled appkiller last night before i went to bed.

Just some thoughts and observations.

these stories of dreadful rapid battery drainages are puzzling to me. granted, my battery hasn't been AMAZING but it has been more than acceptable. not really doing have so far let the phone completely drain twice before recharging to 100 percent. no bump charging. plan on doing this a few more times before just using it as i normally would.

Just an update for today. I took my phone off the charger at 7:30am. It is now 11:20am and the battery is down to 46%. I have gone on maybe two different websites for no more than 10 minutes. Took a phone call that lasted about 1 minute. The screen is at 45% brightness and times out every 15 seconds. It literally loses battery life when im doing nothing and the screen is off.

I have no widgets and there is really nothing updating in the background that I know of. Everything else on this phone is great so far but even as I type this i have lost another 3% of battery which is kind of ridiculous since it isnt being used.

mine lasted from 7am yesterday til about 10pm with normal use. The last hour was playing with the phone consistanly and drained from 30% to dead in a hour. Screen is the biggest power hog.

just started a tasker thread, but was wondering if anyone else uses this to customize their phone? it really helps with programming your 'bolt to minimize battery consumption among doing many many other things as well.
