Thunderbolt Battery Complaints + Tips/Tricks

If battery life is a major concern, you won't be disappointed with the iphone.

Have to disagree with you there! Both my wife and I had iphones and your're correct about the long battery life. But that is not the only point on which I base a decision on a phone. I'm not going to be one of those who badmouths the iphone, it really is a nice device and a good choice for some users. But, for me, I wasn't a happy camper with it, there were too many other downsides that overshadowed the lower battery life of android phones. And, to be honest, there is one major thing about the iphone that I will spend a little hate on, and that is itunes. I HATE itunes and that was a major part of the dealbreaker for me. The other was Apple's really bad notification system, those two along with a few other niggling little things made me leave the iphone fairly fast.

On the other hand, my wife loved her iphone and used it for quite a while. When she moved over to Verizon I gave her my old Dinc and she has come to like it a lot but I told her just this morning that I will get her whatever phone she wants. She's going to hold out until summer to see what iphone 5 looks like and then she'll pick a new phone. She really liked the larger screen on my DX and she will either go with a larger screen android phone or she'll get another iphone is the new 5 comes with a larger screen which I think it is supposed to have.

I'm holding out for the new HTC Pyramid. Dual core processor. With either Cornbread, Wheatbread, or the awesome Ryebread OS.

5 hours on a full charge??? Are you controlling air traffic??? I think somebody,,,,, is over-stating facts. I can run full Wifi, Gps, and get better than 5 hours.

okay now this charge seems to be lasting a lot better. i turned the blockbuster updates off.

Solution for bad battery life?

I have done pretty much everything I can software wise to save battery and its still terrible. It only lasted about 7 hours and I only used it for maybe 3 of those. Its almost at the point where I might as well just use it as a passthrough. Has anyone found a fix or compromise for the poor battery life? I thought I was waiting all that time so they would fix the battery. Also, why did they never think of putting a bigger battery in it? They could have easily put a 1800mah battery in it and solved a lot of the problems. I'm thinking about just buying a portable charger

Yeah, fortunately here in moscow, I get the normal phones. I suspected the "branded" phones have a lot of stuff running that most people don't need. News feeds, auto-updates and stuff. It's just like getting a new computer, you have to clean all the junk from it :D

Its bad dude. i am starting to lose patience. i have the big 2750 battery coming monday. we shall see. i really wanted to use this as a portable media device too.

So.. I dont have a thundferbolt, but i have had an evo since launch day and have rooted it.

Guys, on first boot of a new rom (which all you have on your brand new phones) the kernel and os have some settling in to do. Its trying to get all your data sync'ed and your playing with it MUCH more 9because its a new phone and you love it)...

Give it a few days to settle in and get used to how you are using it.

also.. once its rooted... i am SURE some of the devs will make VAST improvements to your kernels. I can get a full day on my evo now with medium usage.

Learned the hard way with my incredible. ...just get the extended battery. All the tricks in the book don't fix an HTC devices battery. Just a fact.

Android : "By the geeks, for the geeks, of the geeks "

lol, my phone went from 70% to 30% while I slept for 6 hours. Display off the whole time, no background data running, no syncs, etc. Everything was off.

40% gone while idle? That is ridiculous. I might just return the damn phone and stick with my Droid. It's battery isn't in its prime anymore, but it is still miles ahead of the Bolt. At least the battery wouldn't die from remaining idle.

I did read the sticky but that didn't really help the battery life much. I'm thinking about getting the extended battery. Is there a case that fits it? Or is there a battery thats not as physically big?

If you go into knowing it's going to have a lower threshold for battery life, than it's really not that bad. I know that when I had a Blackberry Tour(no wi-fi mind you) and kept my Bluetooth off, I would get about a day or so of use.

So, if I have have a otherworldly upgrade to a TB, and still get around the same battery life...I'm all for it.

If it's a real problem, you can always get a larger battery.

Didn't mean to hijack the thread, but I agree with everything you said. I was only implying that the iphone has great battery life. Other than that, Android trumps in just about every other category.

Once they realize that they need to focus on battery technology and/or efficiency in these smartphones we will all be better off. For now, HTC android handsets are just downright shameful for the most part....
