ThunderBolt Comforting Amenities

In theory tbolt has always been a fantastic phone. Its why we chose it! My biggest beef is with vzw 4G LTE signal and the software that pulls it into our tbolts.

If they could find a way to quickly go from 4G to 3G without an occasional 20 minute gap the tbolt would be fine.

I have no reason based on what I've read to think new phones will hang onto the signal better than ours...but if one can THAT would mean more than the lack of a battery or sdcard. I want a tool - not a toy - so I need dependable data.

Still, if HTC wants to burden the processor with Sense I think we need a faster processor with more memory...and that's where Nexus should have the edge. All of the phone's processing power can be devoted to what WE want.

I'm not suggesting that YOU shouldn't like Sense. Sense as an option would be fantastic imo. Sometimes when the phone is running slow and balky or when the screen lags or freezes I'd like to shut off Sense so the full processing and memory power can be devoted to apps I choose.

There are probably times my phone is running slowly and I blame Sense that the real problem may simply be some app or network issue. The problem is it is difficult to troubleshoot when you can't simply shut Sense off.

Oh, and I do want to mention I like the kickstand too. I'm amazed every after market case doesn't come with a kickstand.

Yes, you're right. Turns out I really like the kickstand too. I use it every single day, all the time. It is my built-in "desktop cradle". :) And it never occured to me that I would use it at all until I got it.

Speaking of TBolt exclusives -- how 'bout data and voice at the same time! Yeehaw!

Isn't that a 4G thing? Don't tell me the RAZR and even the Bionic can't do this...

I misspoke a little. The TBolt exclusive is data and voice over 3G (and/or LTE). The other LTE phones can do data and voice but only with an LTE connection, not over a 3G connection. Sorry.

You scared me, but its all good. I'm buying a RAZR as I'm eligible for an upgrade and I would miss being able to talk while using the 4G hotspot. :)

Is the thunderbolt the only 4G phone that does voice/data at the same time? I thought all 4G phones did this.

Only the TBolt has simultaneous voice and data over 3G and LTE. The other LTE phones only do that on an LTE connection.

It looks like the Rezound will also have SVDO (simultaneous voice & data over 3G) in addition to 4G also.

Thanks, Robrecht

I think I would go with the Galaxy Nexus if I could right now, but I'll stick it out with the TBolt for as long as I can. Been running pretty good on Forever/Forever Cubed 1.0.9., so not worried about Verizon or HTC getting me updates that work on my phone (unlike the stupid GB update they put out where they borked VM notifications and screwed up the FFC libraries). Can't wait till AOSP code for ICS drops to see what the devs can do with it and port it over to the TBolt. I'm pretty sure the TBolt would fly with stock ICS on it...
