Hey guys,

I decided to release this edit of FinalThunder.mp3 which makes it more useful as a notification sound. Because lower frequencies are less audible with the Thunderbolt speakers, or any phone for that matter, It's been modified with a boost to upper frequencies. It has been reduced in length to ~2 seconds using the most appropriate section I could find. Finally, I've increased the volume and applied a limiter in order to maximize pocket-penetration.

Thunderbolt.ogg

Installation Instructions:
For Unrooted users:
You can install regardless if you have root by putting it in /sdcard/media/notifications

For rooted users:
If you have root, you have the option of putting it in /system/media/notifications or /system/media/audio/notifications to allow the notification to occur even if you mount the SD card on your computer to transfer files. This, however, will be removed when you flash different ROMs.

Feel free to request modifications or include in any ROMs you make.

Enjoy, and let me know if you like it :)

Sweet thanks.

Yes, it's just a sound file. No root required. Save to /audio/media/notifications on your SD card and reboot. It will then show up in the list of available notification sounds.

For the person that reported the link as Spam, the service hosting the file displays those ads to generate revenue. Just close them and download the file. If you download it from the TB browser, the browser will block the popups too.

Why do people always say you need to put your notification sounds folder inside a Media labeled folder? You can just put a folder called Notifications right on the root folder of the sd card and be good.

You're right. You can install it in many more places than just where my instructions say. However, to facilitate the install for those who don't know how, I've included instructions on how to install it where I usually put my files. But if you know how to install it and have a different place that you favor, you're more than welcome to put it where you like. :)

Could not hear it before I download.

I'm not sure what the problem is in this case. Were you attempting to preview the file in your browser? If so, many media players do not support the ogg file extension and will not be able to play it. However, there are many media players available (such as winamp and VLC player) which will allow you to preview this file if you wish.

I hope this helped.

Less than a year ago, it was a requirement. Maybe something changed in Froyo, or HTC is doing something differently now, but at one point the "how come my ringtones aren't showing up?" question was a common one, and the solution was to put them in that folder and reboot.

Probably the new media scan garbage.
Well, garbage, I dunno... I admit that I'm not a huge fan either. However, looks to me, as a new Android user, that I can put files pretty much anywhere. Ringtones, wallpaper, notifications, etc and when I go to that area of the menu they will show up for choosing. Really doesn't matter where they are. If you put wallpaper in a directory called ringtones, it would still appear as a wallpaper choice. Additionally, if you put a file in two locations it will show up twice (i.e. two choices of the same ringtone, etc.).
