Got upgraded (for free! woo woo) to the thunderbolt from an incredible. Had the vibration on for all functions on the incredible with no problems. Wanted to leave them on with the tbolt and every time the phone vibrates it makes a very noticeable buzz. It seems like the noise comes from screen itself not the battery...
Anyone else have this problem? I have turned almost all vibration off because it was so annoying but would like to use it again if a fix is available. Thanks in advance for any help:)

I know exactly what you're talking about. I love having haptic feedback on, but I had to turn off all the vibration on my phone because I couldn't take it anymore. Mine also makes a kind of buzzing noise.... Though it sounds more like a rattle to me. And the vibrate is soo loud... Having it on some of the lower volumes is quieter.

This is my second thunderbolt. The first one had an awesome vibrate in my opinion. It was quiet... But you could still feel it. But it didn't work consistently so I took it back and got this one and regret it.

I complained at the Verizon store, but the guy said that it was normal, and that my old one had the problem other Thunderbolts had had, which was a weak vibration. But I compared to the two display models... And they were both like my first one.

So yeah, I would also like to know if anyone else's rattles and this is really the way its supposed to sound....

mine is the exact opposite, i leave my phone on my desk at work and i can barely hear it vibrate when i get a msg. i was going to complain the vibration isnt strong enough.

Compared to my old Blackberry, the vibration is VERY soft...I'd kinda like it to be louder*. With the BB, the vibrate was so loud I didn't even need to use ringtones.

*not really.

I'll trade you guys! :P

Ok so neither of you have any noise resembling rattling right? If the guy who helped me was correct then maybe you guys have the "defective" vibrating phones. I hope he was wrong though... This phone also freezes every time I text or receive a text, and I usually end up looking at a black screen for awhile, I don't remember my first one doing that either.

When I first read the thread title, I thought it was about something entirely different.

Ha...me too. But for me, the vibration of alerts/alarms/calls is very weak on the Tbolt, but the haptic feedback was crazy strong, I only had it on for the first day, and then I killed it to save some battery.
