Time for my upgrade, should I go Galaxy Note 2 or Galaxy SIII?

Good choice. I LOVE the S3, but the Note 2 is just a bigger S3 with improvements and added features. How can you pass that up? Get the Note 2 for sure.

Note 2. Battery life is far superior from what I gather. The JB update on s3 is hit or miss with screwing your battery. My friend always es about his s3 battery life. Then I send him a SS of mine and he says "I hate you"

Re: Time for my upgrade, should I go Galaxy Note 2 or Galaxy S3?

Some of my coworkers got S3s from the company, I asked for a note 2. I have the active case on mine, which is a slim but protective case. After a day or two I really got used to it. My galaxy Nexus feels tiny, S3 feels tiny. Note 2 just feels right.

Quad core over single, twice the ram, Spen adds a level of functionality for some people, 32.25% larger battery on the note 2.. Its just simply an upgrade. Either grab a note 2 or wait for the s4 quad core.

Edit: As far as the holster, its long (covers my 5th pocket/lighter pocket of my jeans unless the phones is behind my hip) but its not super wide. Definitely not like putting my springfield XD on my hip. Im sure the phone prints a bit, and I definitely wouldn't want to wear the phone on the same side as a CCW, but its not bad. Just looks like a phone in a holster.. It isn't too big to fit in pants though. I wear straight cut. Fits in the pocket of my luckys/ralph laurens/tommy bahama's just fine. Even fits, albeit barely, in my wrangler cargo pants I use for work in the cargo pocket.

I personally like Note 2 much better than GS3.

In fact, I was so close to buying the earlier instead of my current N4 the other day. But that's just because I previously owned a HTC Sensation XL and tired of not getting updates on time and so I decided to buy a Nexus phone.

Good luck!

Speaking of battery, what is the battery life like on the Note 2 (and also on the SG3 for all of you SG3 owners)? I ask because on my EVO 4G, initially after getting it battery life was 'ok', no where near as good as my old RAZR V3xx that I would leave sit for a week, use it occasionally and text a few times not having to charge it in a week. Then I got the EVO and was charging at the end of every day. But I'm not sure if it was due to HTC / Android updates or the various apps I was using, battery life severely decreased within the last year to the point that on moderate usage, my battery was dead by 2pm. Notably when having 3G on when I was in a 3G service area. I did get an aftermarket battery to go from the default 1300mah battery to a 1900mah battery which helped... some. But now I have to be cautious when using the phone so that I can eek out battery to last till the end of the day, or after the moderate usage it's back on the charger in my car. Mind you this doesn't include the remote PC logins and that super heavy usage I mentioned before. Rather just standard texting, quick google search, and mostly talk time for me is 'moderate usage'.

So with the larger battery capacity on the Note 2, how does everyone elses battery life shape up under just texting, web browsing briefly, and mostly talking moderately? Also does 4G hammer the battery harder than the 3G does on my EVO?

At this point I'm considering anything will have better battery life than this EVO. lol

Thanks!

I can easily get 24 hours of light usage on 4g. I can still get through a full day with heavy usage. It's fantasy football season so Sundays really test it as I'm checking scores constantly. After the late game is over around 1130, the phone is still kicking

O yea, it's 3100mah... there's an aftermarket 6200mah battery but I have yet to see the need for it

Wow, that's insane (when compared to my EVO). Being that I'll be in a city working and shopping regularly where there is 4G services recently installed, but I live in a 2G area, with my little town having 3G only, are there options within 'TouchWhiz' interface to turn off 4G and drop to 3G, or still turn off data all together? Also, if I'm in a 3G area only, will 4G still keep searching draining the battery even more? I live in a rural area so I will go from no service, to 2G, to no service, to 3G, to no service, then to 4G with all the blackout spots. I think that is what is partially killing my EVO's battery.

There's an app called Phone Info that allows you to switch to 3g only. 4g on will KILL your battery at your house with no service. I use wifi/3g at home and battery life is great. .. This phone on 4g gets much more life than my razr did on 3g. Razr battery was unbareable, that's one big reason I made the switch

Thanks for the info. When I was at the Sprint store demoing both phones, I found what I thought was the 4G on/off option, but I couldn't find any options like I had on my EVO where I could disable/enable 3G and 4G separately.
