Tip for noticeably better speaker sound.

I have Virgin Mobile / Optimus V / VM670 / Android Version 2.2.2.

I have it in front of me and it is a 2.5 jack. I believe Sprint Optimus S is the same phone and should be the same. But I can't confirm that.

As for the Rom you noted. I have not been able to root my phone. I posted in the rooting guide but no reply. Gingerbreak apk app is installed and when run it takes way longer than 10 min. with no changes. So thats off topic.

Again as for the Rom do I have to have it rooted. I haven't worked with roms since 3 years ago with game emulators for computers. What would I have to have installed? Rooted/Unrooted? and is there a link for Backside?

What would I have to do to run it?

Sorry I am Good with Computers and have more knowledge than 90% of friends and family but Android is yet another OS and Roms, Web Codes, as well as Rooting is out of my areas.

I don't know what sources you are using or whether you're just messed up completely but the jack on the Optimus V/S and just about every single android phone that is in existence is a STANDARD 3.5mm jack. I can simply plug my Apple ear buds (Yes Apple buds cause the sound good to me) into the jack on my Optimus V.

I repeat, it is NOT a 2.5mm. It is a 3.5mm jack.

I second this. It's a 3.5mm jack. Any standard headphones will fit in it.

Use PlayerPro with Dsppack to make music louder. Set the equalizer to Treble boost. Then slide the PREAMP bar all the way to the right. This will make a HUGE difference in volume.

Yeah it's absolutely 3.5mm .....
Also don't just cut off some old headphone plug and stick it in there, unless you want no sound from the speakers as that will make it think there's a headpiece plugged in

Yeah, it was a joke. And idk why they didnt believe me that it was a 3.5.

I noticed the sound difference. That was a nice find. This has me on the lookout for an old cell with hole plugs still attached.

I used to know someone that the first thing he did with a new cell phone was to rip all the plastic hole plugs off his phone so that he did not have to deal with them. I wish I had one of those now...

Play some music or a podcast. Now plug the headphone jack with your finger. I get pretty dramatic difference in sound. I am going to try and find a dummy plug for mine.
I read this post and totally thought," ya right. Its probably some joke so u sit there looking like an idiot trying to make ur phone speakers sound better by plugging the headphone Jack/" well curiosity got the best of me and I tried it....sure enough, it really does make it sound Fuller. More bassier and less treble. I could not believe it at first and was completely amazed. Thanks for this tip.

I'm sure everyone knows this as well: cup the phone longways in your hand (fingertip to palm) as you block headset hole with middle finger or next smallest. This throws the improved sound back at you.
