Tips: Get faster camera focus (less blurry photos)

The explanation is that it's not an inferior sensor. You seem to be the only poster with this particular axe to grind. I have both the V20 and G4 in my household and the V20 is easily the superior shooter. Not to say the G4 isn't great, because it is, but it's not as good as the V20.

Your constant complaints about the V20 camera, and relentless statements about LG putting poor cameras in their phones because you don't like the performance in one lighting condition is over the top.

Pop into the V20 pictures thread and look at what this camera can do.

He doesn't have an axe to grind. He said on the first page or two of this thread that the V20 camera was more than capable but it was struggling in a concert setting and posted examples. I've seen that same purple hue cover the screen on 2 occasions as well. So he's not the only one with a frustration with the camera at times.

The camera is good but it has issues as well. It's not the best phone camera on the market.

I appreciated Gustav's explanation and wanted to learn a bit more because inevitably when the V30 comes out, it will release its specs, and learning the capability of a specific sensor and how it reacts will help me in deciding if the purchase is worth it for me.

I like the conversation as it relates to the issues of the phone and tips to try and get the most out of it.

What is tiresome is the hyperbole in your posts constantly trumpeting how this phone camera is a step backwards and you have no trust in LG.

Asking for details about a sensor is constructive and interesting. Including backhanded, overly negative comments in every post seems like a not so subtle attempt to steer the narrative of the conversation.

Regardless, hopefully the V30 or another phone improves on the V20's weak areas and works for you. I won't point this out anymore as obviously I'm being petty at this point.

I'm probably in the minority because I don't like phone cameras, but yeah I know..."The best camera is the one you have with you"

While I agree with that statement to a certain level, I would never rely on my phone to take quality photos if I'm planning to go somewhere. While I have experienced some great results and have seen others with great results, I prefer a dedicated camera. Too many limitations with a phone camera for my taste.

Outdoor well lit shots weren't in question. In certain circumstances it does take good pics. The original post dealt with objects in motion and also then further discussed the sensor in challenging lighting. A well lit, sunny day photo of objects at rest can be handled well by most camera phones at this point.
